Ekko Rework? Y

I know you are currently working on lowering ekko's base damage and increasing his ap, but by doing this you are going to make him heavily rely on ap, which is going to cause him to be easily countered, just build qss and your fine. Ekko was special to this game because he was the first melee mage and I feel as you are taking away from hybrid and ad ekkos as well by make his abilities scale directly with ap. Maybe ekko scales with items both ap and ad? Ekko

If we widen the criteria to a point where Ekko falls under the "mage" category, I insist on calling AP Shaco a "mage" as well.

Basically everyone doing magic damage is a mage now.

Zac Rumble Alistar Amumu are mages now for all I care.

EVERYBODY GETS TO BE A MAGE!!!

None of the champions listed have a Q that has range, and have a passive based on connecting 3 times. Btw just because a melee champion scales off ap does not make them a melee mage like ekko just fyi the kits are completely different and playstyles are different.Ekko

All of them have ranged Q's except Evelynn which slightly extends her auto attack range. Yeah, they don't have any 3-hit mechanic but I fail to see how this has anything to do with being a mage.

Gnar has a ranged Q and a 3-hit mechanic and it doesn't make him a mage, right?

Kassadin and Galio are within the same category of champions and they also have completely different play styles.

But okay, lets tighten up the requirement for "being a mage". Katarina and Fizz are obviously assassins, but so is Ekko. He has the same hit and run patterns as Katarina and Fizz. None of them can withstand prolonged trades while standing in the middle of 4 people. (Unless you play Tank Ekko of course but this is a different story)

So they are lowering his base damage and increasing his AP scaling to get rid of Tank/AD Ekko and encourage the AP melee assassin kit...and you're complaining that they are nerfing Tank/AD Ekko?

Lowering his base damage does not reduce his scaling....it reduces his effectiveness early game.

He's not even listed as a mage, he's an assassin/fighter with AP scaling just like Fizz.

There are a bunch of champions with the Mage tag who are melee. Diana and Kassadin and Kat all come to mind, for starters. Melee AP mids aren't anything new. There are a few tank/mages as well, and they are all melee.

are they? where did they say that?

numbers are not Ekko issue, it's that he doesn't have an assassin kit as they want him to be. EVERYTHING on his kit is extremely easy to dodge, while assassins have ensured damage, be it from point and click spells (ults) or very easy to land.

While the most reliable damage Ekko has, comes from autoattacks, which requires him to stay in melee range for long periods, hence, the best build on him is as a tank/bruiser.

With this kit, he will never be an assassin regardless of how much they tune the numbers unless they tweak his abilities to make them easy to land.

"First melee mage" Not even a mage. Gragas(before his much needed gutting way back when) says Hi.

I'm sorry, but I don't recall seeing any AD scalings in Ekko's kit, so I also don't see how he's a hybrid. Another thing, an AP Assassin relying heavily on AP to do anything? The horror.
