Lifesteal Equivalent for Mages

Zenderana··3 votes·2,432 views

With AD scaling champs they have items that grant lifesteal or item 3812, where is the mage equivalent? Are they suppose to get AD for item 3146? I remember will of the ancients not being that big of a priority for most mages only for Vladimir and a little bit for KennenSwain. having an item like this in the game will help some of the mages with surviability especially with AD scaling champs dominating the game (for the most part). I say it comes back but with low ap like 60 or 65

I WILL for the item to come back. XD

WotA was removed because it made Swain,Vlad and other mages who could've bought it sincerely broken. Without it,now it is possibile to balance'em without having to think "Shite, but with that item this will be impossible to beat".

And since you were around at those times (i think, since you know the item) you should know how frustrating is to kill a vlad/swain with lifesteal items. Just with revolver they could've been impossible to kill, depending on the player ability (and runes).

SpellVamp runes still exist until next pre-season though.

It was just Vlad and they re-worked him.

I don't see the problem. Its the "burst mage" hate. This issue is that dot / sustain / poking mages need this due to trading and staying in lane. Now the burst mages don't because they can just blow you up. I fiddle. Sure he has a heal build in or he couldn't say in lane. Not every mage has "BIG LCS DAMAGE" so they have to exchange damage multiple times.

Now with item 3123 being soo cheap I don't see an issue other than it will make it harder for me. To be honest its kinda needed. Almost all of the non-burst mages are hurting. This is because of the AP nerfs across the board and lose of sustain. Then AD got buffs and added sustain.

Life steal causes an ADC to get full hp in a few Autos. Mages are restricted by there cast and cds. I don't see a problem unless your bias. You can give it to AD and then say AP doesn't need it. It doesn't matter about needing it, it takes away a possible build against certain makes ups. Thus, giving AD more options or skill cap.

You, rito, or who every can say what every they want. But it doesn't make them correct. Because if "sustain is an option or AD it needs to be an option or AP" What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

And for all those that "tell me their person options" while I think item 3155 item 3071 item 3085 item 3153 are all bs items that covers champs weakspots rather they making them out play. Tell me where the AP equals to these items are. Don't get me started on AP pen and AC pen/leth. I don't know why this board and rito are AD and a few mages circle jerk. Cant all the class have close to the same power. Nope because its all about the money.

"if there is an option for AD it needs to be an option for AP" I actually want this statement to be made clear in Rito's minds when working on items, since it would help with builds, but there was a reason why they removed WotA. What i'm saying is not "the OP is stupid because riot thinks perfectly and all praise lord phreak",it's just that the comeback of a spellvamp item would mean a nerf,if not more, for some champions. I've actually started playing vlad like 3-4 months ago and before i used to play ap champs who would've liked some kind of hp sustain other than item 3010 ,so i'd be actually happy if they did create another spellvamp, but it would be way harded to balance mages after that. We saw what a mere 5 did on Death's Dance and ADCs,so we have the proof that lifesteal and spellvamp are problems, the fact is ADC usually don't have a way to get bonus health, and so they make it out by using lifesteal (which should be tuned down a bit,at least in the lategame, imo),while mages have some HP items,so if played well they can win without having their "heal doing damage item".

I don't think i am bias, since i don't actually main any role or any champ, but i'm just worried about the possibilities. In other games (not MOBAs) i've saw similar things happen: A new equipment comes out, some character becomes "more viable" than the others, and so this char gets literally destroyed and becomes unplayable. It happened a few times here on league too, with ADCs using Assassin and Bruiser builds,if i remember correctly.

I can understand that.

But Vlad and other "always" strong champs are what breaks the items. Then they Nerf everyone (loss of item) but the same mages are op. Instead of nerfing everyone they need to nerf the few mages.

So if Life steal and Spell vamp are op we should just get rid of Spell vamp? It has to be both or none. I don't understand why people don't get this.

2nd they allowed spell vamp items to stack. (it was more item 3065 and increase healing things that cause the healing to go out of control. and all they had to do is added reduced healing on vald by 50% in his passive to solve all the issue from the start. Instead they started swing the hammer around like a noob.

I get it man but from a poke mage side with the less of sustain then item 1054 and life steal atm. Its like I do no damage sometimes. They everyone has burst damage. Heck tanks can burst me down when caught. Its like Eq kiting all over again. Make sure you have perfect game play because if touched once you die.

And this is nothing wrong with wanted the same General strats or options in a game. Its like saying hey man your army can't have medics on the field but theirs can.

They reworked Vlad with the idea that WoTA and most spell vamp would be gone.

Jmman1 votes

All they have to do is add Vlad receives 50% less healing in his passives and problem solved.

Ralanr1 votes

But then you're forcing Vlad to buy these items, which Riot didn't want to do.

Jmman1 votes

No because the reduce healing would be too great and not worth it. Because he would lose other stats. Low ap means lower hp. This is the AD when all the items get high AD and the choice on x stat and x clicky. LOWERING THE HEALING VALD RECIEVES nerfs the healing items on him. Which would cause him not to buy them to getting more stats and things with other items.

Heal for 100 would be 50

heck change it to 75% if need be. This is how you only effect one champ with a nerf and not across the board.

Ralanr1 votes

Ok, so basically the best way to balance Vlad around items he should be stupidly good with is to lower the amount of healing he actually gets?

Kinda shits on his design as a sustain mage.

Jmman1 votes

So the best way to balance vlad would be to shit on all the other mages sustain without anything in return?

Kinda shits on all the other mages

Mages aren't supposed to have sustain unless they are designed to have it anyway. Otherwise every mage could basically draintank.

Mages have cd's they can't "drain tank" that is only fiddle and adcs. Because mages are restricted by cooldowns and mana. ADC's aren't. Doesn't Life steal make EVERY AD able to drain tank if they wanted. Guess that niceness is only for AD playstyle.

Why are you keep proving my point but thinking to countering it?

Mages are designed to be balanced around mana, AP, and CDR. Only mages with in built sustain are balanced by their sustain, and Riot wanted to make those mages not balanced around buying a sustain item to do what they were designed to do.

I'm not justifying the amount of sustain AD champions are getting through items right now. Deaths Dance is currently really dumb on champions like Draven. We should be nerfing that instead of just giving everyone more sustain.

mages can have sustain because it have limitations.

Auto attacks that heal don't. So Mage sustain wouldnt be broken. Vlad and Swain can be adjust if they are.

AD sustain is infinite this is the issue. How can you not see that. Autos do damage and heal. Plus there was really only ONE spell vamp item. Not like all the life stealing. Please quit typing your a bronze one with no idea of team and champ play. I have play since season 1. Spell vamp wasn't a problem on mages. I don't think you understand how much have change for AD and the amount of sustain / resists / clicky they gain. All the while AP nerf nerf nerfed. And the SAME few mages are always strong. its bs.

If it was so easy then Riot would have done it. They didn't.

  1. You're really desperate if you're calling rank into this argument.
  2. I know AD sustain is an issue. The answer shouldn't be giving sustain to AP, it should be lowering overall sustain.

Swain is still broke. There is not a single fkn game where i come across swain and it doesn't have the most damage in the team. Then again the problem is that he is also tanky af especially with that ult of his. If anything just because of swain or vlad other mages are being left out on spell vamp.

Double standards, and one of the biggest showcases of their favoritism. Riot said the sudden burst healing was frustrating to play against, so they removed will of the ancients, the sole spell-vamp item in the game. Meanwhile marksmen have been just as much of a chore with lifesteal on critical hits. At least mages were gated by cooldowns, mana costs, and having to land their abilities to heal; marksmen just have to right click, they cannot miss, and are without limitation.
