so this thread got deleted(?)
the one about riot's balance philosophy i don't know why not gonna waste this post tho
riot's balance direction is misguided, and these reworks
would have been fine if they were treated as a new standard of balance due to the variety of mechanics they brought to the table.
upon these 3 touching down on the rift riot had 2 decisions. either: A) balance the game to this new level introduced by the mechanical interplay presented in these champions kits (which would require more backend work but would be more feasible and invigorating to the community and likely the dev team too.) or B) retain a former standard of balance to either reduce workload on modernising the backend of the roster or to adjust the new releases to a "fair" level of play as was intended from the get go.
but that just makes no sense because how can those champions make it to live servers in that state if they weren't meant to push the state of balance forward? they came out very close to each other the timing was right for it and i fail to believe there were no internal conversations about this idea at rito.
now obviously in post script the latter was chosen but that seems almost stupid to me now due to how much these 3 releases had in their kits upon entry.
worse is that actual mint champions and not reworks have had mechanics removed despite being in and around all these "overloaded" reworks which somehow passed play testing with their release spec kits.
has had his W mechanics removed or nerfed down heavily.
same thing.
literally same thing like derp who is designing these W's if they are so busted every time, what is the idea/philosophy behind that? training wheels for the player base? it makes no honest sense to me aside from that if it is not option A of what rito had in front of them.
and likely some other stuff for all of these champions and then some, but that aside if the new state of balance was to be what these champions, both reworks and mints, were upon release then why was the roster not collectively pushed forward? because honestly literally anyone capable of feeding themselves was able to tell that these champions had far too much going on for themselves already, except maybe...what...gbay99 and his assessment of ireliderp?
if the champions weren't meant to be a new state of balance then what were they? thematic redo's?
please understand simply letting the champions have their mechanics allows all other champions to have their mechanics and numbers unlocked.
and
could actually be unlocked,
not benched,
reverted,
primed,
sharpened,
given a rift walk instead of a limp.
i mean hell they could even re-add
so that tanks have an actually good magic resist item.
so who is making these decisions at rito?
who is in charge of balance direction? because you cannot let that many mechanics onto live servers on 3 champions in a row and not have an actual plan for what to do with them aside from removing the moves as they were intended.
the opportunity was right there to shift paradigms with league.
could have even added back
rofl
got his rework retooled.
this never needed to happen if the new releases were to serve as a re-modifier for the state of balance.
i mean honestly one can't even list all the champions that would become "fun" if they were to be given all of their intended mechanics.
why was
reworked for all of his new moves to be gutted?
why was this guy's W given a mini-retooling and then gutted?
we're not making a "fun" game but the fun is being sacrificed for balance and there is no balance supposedly.
? i don't understand why this rework was re-tooled it wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary for it's intended play, but that's not what was intended?
the balance philosophy is contradictory with the design philosophy, and i don't understand how you get these things through play testing with the intention of them being balance-able when the intended mechanics are not the final product when all is said and done.
and his silence which is out of anyone's jurisdiction.
grant the older members of the roster new mechanics, you don't have to VGU all of them i mean shit you could make
's vomit ground people and he's probably one of the most popular adc's again even without a lulu next to him.
