the one about riot's balance philosophy i don't know why not gonna waste this post tho

riot's balance direction is misguided, and these reworks Akali Aatrox Irelia would have been fine if they were treated as a new standard of balance due to the variety of mechanics they brought to the table.

upon these 3 touching down on the rift riot had 2 decisions. either: A) balance the game to this new level introduced by the mechanical interplay presented in these champions kits (which would require more backend work but would be more feasible and invigorating to the community and likely the dev team too.) or B) retain a former standard of balance to either reduce workload on modernising the backend of the roster or to adjust the new releases to a "fair" level of play as was intended from the get go.

but that just makes no sense because how can those champions make it to live servers in that state if they weren't meant to push the state of balance forward? they came out very close to each other the timing was right for it and i fail to believe there were no internal conversations about this idea at rito.

now obviously in post script the latter was chosen but that seems almost stupid to me now due to how much these 3 releases had in their kits upon entry. worse is that actual mint champions and not reworks have had mechanics removed despite being in and around all these "overloaded" reworks which somehow passed play testing with their release spec kits. Rakan has had his W mechanics removed or nerfed down heavily. Camille same thing. Ornn literally same thing like derp who is designing these W's if they are so busted every time, what is the idea/philosophy behind that? training wheels for the player base? it makes no honest sense to me aside from that if it is not option A of what rito had in front of them. and likely some other stuff for all of these champions and then some, but that aside if the new state of balance was to be what these champions, both reworks and mints, were upon release then why was the roster not collectively pushed forward? because honestly literally anyone capable of feeding themselves was able to tell that these champions had far too much going on for themselves already, except maybe...what...gbay99 and his assessment of ireliderp? if the champions weren't meant to be a new state of balance then what were they? thematic redo's?

please understand simply letting the champions have their mechanics allows all other champions to have their mechanics and numbers unlocked. Azir and Kalista could actually be unlocked, TahmKench not benched, Sejuani reverted, Orianna primed, Darius sharpened, Kassadin given a rift walk instead of a limp. i mean hell they could even re-add item 4401 so that tanks have an actually good magic resist item.

so who is making these decisions at rito? who is in charge of balance direction? because you cannot let that many mechanics onto live servers on 3 champions in a row and not have an actual plan for what to do with them aside from removing the moves as they were intended. the opportunity was right there to shift paradigms with league. could have even added back item 2004 rofl

i mean look the game feels awful to play with the state of balance the way it is. why is that? because i have no reason, none, literally none whatsoever to play something other than what i know "well" because everything is essentially doing the same job with slightly slight flair differences on each one like a crew of mumble rappers or something each having a different fashion sense but otherwise sounding the same on the record. homogenisation, another looming issue or it's just becoming really real right now, that is solved by expanding the balance parameters. if the champions aren't supposed to have 1k+ hp at lvl1 with no items, then you make all the tanks have 1k+ hp at lvl1 and balance accordingly. and even that 1k hp is a lowball on my part, heck maybe they should have 1.5k base hp so that there's more wiggle room for the rest of the HP hierarchy stack.

there are things that can be done with all that has already been shown to us and it's just not being executed on in any meaningful manner. "nerf this into non-existence, buff this a bit, buff it a bit again, buff it a bit again, ok no put it on the rework bench. rework it, is it strong? is it weak? well let's buff it anyway the players dunno what they're doing. oh shit we went too far even though the champion did all this way new interactive shit that hadn't been seen before, nerf it to nothing bro we'll rework it." why are we doing that with this game? ofc you aren't gonna balance all the champions around such a narrow bandwith for things to be considered "balanced" when the roster is approaching 150 champions. is this an insanity test or something? and i can't even trust the client with a game so i could just not talk about this shit at all because the client is in the gutter currently and untrustworthy as shit for the duration of this patch.

once again, open up the rosteer. progress the roster. buff everyone and get creative with how you balance tanks instead of +dmg honestly.

Riot doesn't read the boards here, and it's heavily defended by unpaid fanboys/fangirls known as "volunteer mods" they take criticism of Riot very personally, for the Riot overlords have selected them as slave labor leaders of the community.

even fucking Swain got his rework retooled. this never needed to happen if the new releases were to serve as a re-modifier for the state of balance. i mean honestly one can't even list all the champions that would become "fun" if they were to be given all of their intended mechanics. why was Galio reworked for all of his new moves to be gutted? Volibear why was this guy's W given a mini-retooling and then gutted? we're not making a "fun" game but the fun is being sacrificed for balance and there is no balance supposedly. Kayle? i don't understand why this rework was re-tooled it wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary for it's intended play, but that's not what was intended? the balance philosophy is contradictory with the design philosophy, and i don't understand how you get these things through play testing with the intention of them being balance-able when the intended mechanics are not the final product when all is said and done.

nothing is gonna move forward with this cycle in play for the entire roster bar a select select few who we won't talk about here because they affect the $$$$. i get it, that's fine, you could however be making actual money on the entire roster by granting thematic mechanics and intended mechanics to the roster, and no the recent changes with poppy, kled, kata, are not an actual start because akali and aatrox get their mechanics removed in the same patch, which sure is fine for akali given the state of the game as we have it now but the state of the game was available to being very different at this moment when this ride with these 3 meta shifting reworks begun, and i don't know why that wasn't opted into by riot given the evolution of their roster.

also come on now how is a designer supposed to make an actual fun to play champion if mechanics will just be stripped from them irrespective of how they contribute to the "feel" of the champion aside from Chogath and his silence which is out of anyone's jurisdiction. grant the older members of the roster new mechanics, you don't have to VGU all of them i mean shit you could make KogMaw's vomit ground people and he's probably one of the most popular adc's again even without a lulu next to him.

i just don't get it man. everyone could have had nice things [sg-janna]

and to note the community doesn't actually want nice things either or a completely playable roster. no that's not wanted at all.
