People hate the game more when they lose; I'll grant that.
But when the winning team is talking about starting an S3 server, you know that the game sucks right now. Riot -- nobody will watch your flashy pro games if nobody plays it and nobody likes this insane snowball burst game you've created. It will take you at least a year to fix it. If you wait another year to start you won't be able to fix it in time.
I started playing at the tail end of season 3. I'd love to go back to it, personally. Imagine a world without

community: we hate the burst meta. but we also hated the tank meta. me: how about riot tries a healthy mix of tanks being tanks (without being unkillable and without doing tons of damage with 0 offensive items and assassins being able to 1shot if they play it really well not with just 1 dirk lol)
There was an s3 server in the making about 2 years ago. Google it. League classic.
Haven't heard about it much since though , which is a shame . Probably not enough support or got cancelled, who knows .
Just checked their discord server, this is the pinned message since people are asking about it.
"To anyone wondering about this project, yeah it is on-going, but with very small group of devs. Those devs do this as their hobby and all the time and effort they put into this is directly from their spare time. Thus the progression is slow and basically the only way to speed up the development process is to start coding by yourself. Let the devs take their time and help them if you can."
I think people are grossly underestimating how much players have improved since season 3. What Classic WoW has taught me is you cannot go back to exactly what it was like in the past, people are smarter and know more optimal things. I wouldnt be surprised at all if most of the things you hate about the current season seeped into Classic. I mean literally when Classic WoW came back people realized a more optimal way of grinding dungeons/levels and steamrolled through every boss.
