Marksmen in other lanes

Certain people want marksmen top lane, or mid lane. But here is the problem. It doesn't work that way. If you nerf Marksmen out of Bot lane, they won't be strong enough to go anywhere else. Top: Though they can poke, they can't win 1v1s, if lets say a bruiser gets on top of them they are dead, being the only saving grace for melees top against ranged champs. Jungle: Their clear is garbage for almost all champions, their ganks suck, and they are squishy and can't 1v1, same problem as Top. Mid: Some Marksmen can do good her, but most can't, because Assasins one shot them, and Mages out 1v1 them. Same as Top, and Jungle.

So these theorized nerfs on Marksmen do not push them in another direction, they only take them out of the game. If marksmen leave bot, they have no home, no lane to go to regularly, as they are only good in niche situations. But then if you buff them to go Top, Mid, or Jungle, what is stopping them from going Bot, and taking back the botlane meta?

Especially in top, even in matchups where their opponent has a hard time gap closing, the long lane with no partner and usually no self peel makes it easy pickings for any jungler.

A lot of people rationalized the marksmen nerfs saying "why should they monopolize bot lane", without understanding that being the best choice in bot lane is the point where marksmen are balanced compared to the rest of the classes. Because they are usually the worst choices everywhere else.

Some people just really hate playing against marksmen. A lot. They want the game to be a bruiser-fight or a skill-shot fight and the kiting-peel skillsets seem like easy and overpowered to them.

Range + peel just makes sense- specializing champions in each skillset. As long as multiplicative items exist, and people can play as a team, it's stronger to cover your bases and play as a group than just try to outplay everything on the map solo. When One For All is up you can more easily see what I mean.

They go mid and jg goes support and they get funneled all the jg and mid gold to out-scale everyone

The problem with marksmen in non-bot lanes is that, as a class, they're all balanced in pretty much the exact same way: they're intended to be champions that are weak early, but that scale hard late. It is because of this that they don't do well in solo lanes when they're in a more balanced state, because when they're genuinely weak early, they will lose their lane to most matchups. By contrast, if we had marksmen who had more pronounced peaks early or mid, rather than late, we'd be far more likely to see them thrive elsewhere. Just to put this into a bit more perspective: if every mage were balanced like Karthus, mid lane would have practically nothing but assassins, because mages would then stand virtually no chance against them. This is why we need to continue bringing marksmen closer to the same standards of balance as everyone else, instead of pushing for reverts, because the only way to have positional diversity for marksmen will be to also give them diversity of scaling.
