how to make thornmail not useless.

turn it into blademail from dota2. 100% balanced. tho make it reflect physical dmg only

it shoud have the passive "reflect 10% of all physical dmg you take from champions as magic dmg" it should have the active "activate to increase it to 50% true damage for 3 seconds, 90 sec cd"

I suggest thornmail add grievous wounds to the assailant. Stops yi from 1v1ing a rammus with 400 armor and thornmail when he's only got a botrk and boots.

Reflects any damage taken back to the unit that dealt the damage. Lasts 4.5 seconds.

No thanks. Its a separate item in a separate game and wasn't designed around how LoL works at all. So much nope

i made it better for league. and the item has a relatively long cd s its no different then a rammus w in an item.

18 seconds on an item active is not a "relatively long CD".

It's already pretty solid, it's a more cost-effective item 3068 that's better than item 3068 against a decent number of champions. It's just niche because it's power doesn't translate to an entire team comp as smoothly ~80% of the time.

The only issue I've ever really seen anyone raise with Thornmail is also that it doesn't counter a 15k build from a hyper carry and allow anyone who buys it to AFK kill them. Which it obviously doesn't do, because that would be stupid.

Blademail is fairly BS in DotA, and that game allows items to offer things like 14 seconds of stealth, 10 seconds of immunity to all magic damage and CC effects, re-setting all your cooldowns with the click of a button for 2 full QWER rotations, 7% max HP regenerated per second, and similar shenanigans in their itemization, which should say something.

Itemization between LoL and DotA isn't in the same ball-park in terms of power, both have very different philosophies and power levels. And true to DotA items, Blademail would be completly broken moved over to LoL.

to be fair. 7% hp per second, most heros ho never goes above 3k. and that is with a very high str build

ehh the difference is that sunfire helps against magic damage in the form of hp gain, thornmail is literally only effective vs ad champs.

As awesome as that active would be I'm not a big fan. I like thornmail cheap and I see that active adding 800 gold easy to the item cost, not to mention beefing up the build path with some other item.

It should reflect the damage in the form it's taken from auto-attacks; so on-hit abusers also take mixed damage. Or have it apply grievous wounds, I don't care which. But turning it into another activatable item? No thanks.
