EKKO EKKo EKko Ekko ekko review from a Plat whose played him twice.

Hello Everyone,

I am a noob and this is my experience playing Ekko twice so far.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to play Ekko in a teambuilder and a 3v3 game. So my post isn't going to summarize his practicality as much as how he plays as a champion.

Another element to note is that I'm a platinum player and my teambuilder and 3v3 MMR is in low silver so that may have affected my resulted.

Anyway here we go!

5v5 Ekko Top Lane Summary.

I'm laning against a Fiora. I believe this is one of the champs Ekko was supposed to watch out for. So I CS while sitting in my creep wave while harassing with Timewinder (Q) when I can. Fiora uses her double Q one time to harass me before going all in at level 1.

This is a huge mistake on her part and I'll tell you why. Ekko has 2 abilities at level 1. Where as most champions only have 1 ability and a passive. So Fiora dives in with 2 Q's dealing a third of my health. I panic a little since I'm on a new champion for the first time. I throw out my Timewinder (Q). The Timewinder deals a 4th of her life before coming back and HITTING HER AGAIN FOR EVEN MORE DAMAGE. Then my passive procs and she flashed away, but it is too late. First Blood to Ekko.

This is where the fun begins. After I get first blood on her I know I'm an assassin and can kill her over and over until she gets some help, but wait...

She dies again and next time she is alive she gets a jungler gank! I'm feeling very confident on this champion now that I've gotten 2 kills so I throw down my Parallel Convergence. I feint fear and pretend to run away, then dive back in. Both of these clowns are standing in my (w) and get stunned and killed. Ekko's double Q and W passive are just too much for most people to live through, and at this point I already have a needlessly large rod.

Now that top lane has become irrelevant, I start roaming the map. Ekko has some super dank ganks. His W cuts off a large amount of pathing for the enemy. He can gap close and CC. Also when fed, he is going to kill you very quickly.

To summarize the rest of the game. I roam around the map killing people effortlessly because they just won't stop standing in my W. I don't know if that can't see it or what, but people really need to stop standing in it. You literally cannot fight Ekko if you stand in his W. If you think Ekko's ult is Chronobreak (R), you are incorrect. His W is all he needs to dispatch of his foes.

I landed 1 ult because I looked weak, but I had been standing the same area in a while, so they dove me. The instantly regretted that when I hit them with a double Q plus Ult, all while they were stunned from my W.

TL;DR Don't feed Ekko at level 1 because he snowballs extremely hard.

My 3v3 game went similarly so I won't discuss it.

Let's look at his abilities.

Passive Z-Drive Resonance

This bad boy right here surprised me with how much I loved it. The speed, the slow and the damage. I love it. Never fear a trade in which you get to proc this. I even dove towers a lot because I could just run out with the speed from this.

Q Timewinder

This ability does too much damage! If you ever find yourself committing to fight Ekko, you will get hit by his Q twice. There is literally no way to avoid it while in a melee fight with him. And this ability will out damage most anything an enemy can do to you early. This ability probably needs a damage nerf on the back end.

W Parallel Convergence

This is definitely my favorite ability in the game. Massive impact, tons of counterplay, and did I mention that I'm Pantheon main? So landing abilities like this is nothing to me. I had people in tears getting hit by this, screaming "Nerf Ekko Plox Rito" in all chat. A gloriously well designed ability.

E Phase Dive This ability is pure shit lol. It's only function is catching people. That is all its for. It does very little damage on its own. And that makes his kit work. The 20% AP ratio on this ability is definitely keeping Ekko from being release Xin Zhao levels of stupid OP.

R Chronobreak I like this ability. I mainly used it for escaping. The only time you really get to use this ability offensively is when your opponents misplay or get trapped in a CC storm from your teammates. And even if your teammates trap the enemy in CC, they will die before you even get to offensive ult. Or you get to cheese a penta kill out :^) Defensively this ability is the bees knees. I get to go more HAM then Renekton and if I fair I get to try again!

Overall I rank Ekko a top tier champion. He packs enough CC to overcome bad match ups. He dominates his favorable match ups. He plays a mean air guitar. He can fit any team comp. Excellent snowballing and teamfight clean up. And he fights cool too. He might do a little too much damage to melee's that can't avoid his damage however.

To beat this little bugger I recommend a bruiser with ignite. Avoid his Q skillshot. The Range on it is rather short. DO NOT FUCKING STAND IN THE FUCKING PARALLEL CONVERGENCE.

TL;DR Don't get baited by Ekko because he will steal your bike.

Fiora is the "noob stomper" for a reason. She feeds on those who don't understand her kit, and she gets rekt by half-way competent players who understand her kit.
