Nautilus viable support in ranked?

So I recently picked up my loving giant Nautilus and I've fallen in love. I enjoy his kit and his playstyle so much that's I've quickly in under 5-6 days gotten him nearly mastery 5 I have just binged played this guy and am seriously considered maining him. But in a recent game my friend said he wasn't too viable in ranked. I play him in the support role and generally go very positive for my K/D/A and get my carry fairly fed. Honestly I haven't had many issues at all but of course this isn't ranked and ranked is played much differently so I've come to ask your opinions. Thank you :)

Nautilis is a very viable support in ranked, idk what your friend was thinking but naut is in fact a good support. if you find success with him then yes go for it. I see some nautilis supports do very well in my ranked games and is amazing when going against a hard carry such as MissFortune Lucian Ryze Vayne because of his cc. so yes he is a good pick as support in ranked games

Ya I find my best plays are against MF's and Vayne's because MF has to stand still for ult and vayne relies on movement and position alot. Thanks again :)

He is definitely a viable support. He can have issues against certain opponents (Morgana makes his life horrible), but he's definitely a good option.

I think the main issue with that specific matchup is Black Shield. Nautilus doesn't really have the damage to punch through it early and negates pretty much all of his abilities while active.

That's an issue as well but god damn not being able to use my Q with that stun up makes engaging so annoying.

He's also a pretty good jungler, if you're so inclined.
