Yup, he sure is stomping low elo.

Now, in light of Fiora's reverted nerfs ( and I applaud the person who had the integrity and maturity to not just come up with random buffs ), lets list some of his nerfs: 7.2 Hemorrhage - Bonus AD reduced to 30 - 200 (based on level) from 40 - 200 (based on level). Decimate - Handle hit damage reduced to 35% from 50%. 7.11 Decimate - BUG FIX: When triggering Hemorrhage.png Noxian Might by applying a fifth stack via Decimate, Decimate now properly only applies one stack of Hemorrhage.png Hemorrhage to other units hit. Yup it's a nerf, it was actually an advanced technique he was balanced around. 7.9 Lower synergy with new tank items + Black Cleaver nerfs. 7.14 Bramble vest - not that good vs him, but can still screw him over. 7.18 Fiora buffs - now this may not be the end the world, but it seems to be the straw that finally put him in the dirt. Another added factor is that the maatchup goes from slightly in Fiora's favour in low elo to Fiora's domination in high elo.

Now, let me give you some suggested buffs ( not all of them are mine ):

  • Revert nerfs
  • Reintroduse Decimate 'bug' as an intened feature
  • Lower Q cast from 0.75 to 0.75/0.65/0.55 at levels 1/7/13
  • Let his ult fully reset on lvl 2
  • Let his ult do 1 damage on cast, and if the enemy dies before being hit Darius still gets Noxian Might.

Think the best reliablility buff for darius would just to let his ult semi-reset (let it be available for 20'ish secs) after getting a kill instead of executing with the ult.

Would make those multikills way more reliable instead of having to use the ult as execution in order to pick up multible kills considering that he always is at a disadvantage due to being melee

Edit: Bramle Vest is alo getting nerfed on PBE, though i think he could need a little more still imo...

Sounds good.

It's also a mostly teamfight buff, so it wouldn't make him into a hyperbully.

Excactly. What juggernauts need in order to be succesful is reliability when they close the gap to their target (or an easier time closing it), and Darius expecially when he applies his passive 5 stacks to go insane.

So you'll still be able to kite him to deny his passive, but he will actually be a bigger threat overall during the late game

I don't play darius (mid mage main), but i can see leaving your opponents with like 5 health to make when die by the bleed and not getting your ultimate reset unsatisfying.

Well, I will mention this. He has almost exactly 50% win rate in all elos, currently sitting at 51,5% at platinum league as a refference. More than half the champions have worse win rate. Let me ask you again, what is the reason for you that you want to buff him, instead of, let's say Volibear? (48,4%)

I will take some of your buffs and talk about them and what I think about them. It's only my opinion, so... Reverting nerfs - those are early game nerfs and in fact very reasonable ones. He has his Q which does damage, heals and applies stack of debuff if you get hit by the edge. That's pretty much all he needs to win trades, not to mention that sustain he gets was not changed at all. On the other hand, the nerf of handle hit gives him higher skill cieling, people will need to get better at positioning to get the best effect. Also, the only counterplay for this spell is to get away from him or go right next to him, in which case... he is a juggernaut, he want you to be next to him. Bugfix is reasonable for me as well.

Lowering the Q cast time - would make it imbalanced. As I said, there is no counterplay if he just swings and you have no time to move. Just as he did before Q rework. But now it heals and does more damage. They gave it cast time because they needed him to be balanced a bit.

Full reset - really? It is TRUE damage. His resets are enough. You can reliably delete almost anyone who gets too close to you. And no, it's not that hard to get in range.

The last one I am fine with.

All in all, I think he is fine somehow right now. Not to mention he is third most banned champion. He is juggernaut, he has execute which can reset and he has great sustain. It's not so rare to see Darius being behind and then in one teamfight he gets pentakill just because of his resets. He can go full tank and do damage thanks to that true damage ult with resets. It's hard to balance and there will be someone who doesn't like it at the time all the time...

Anyways, that's just my opinion, I might not be that objective.

Hm, the website I use says 49 https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/champions/stats/darius/platinum Also, because his nature is a bit pubstompy, it's even lower in high level regions like Korea and Europe West.

Volibear is a bit absolete, as was Darius pre-rework. He lacks any sort of counterplay like Darius, Illaoi or Yorick, the more modern Juggernauts.

I'm really fine with any buffs, these are just some interesting ideas I came across.

He still wins all the games in my heart!

On the site you mentioned I can see 50,0% win rate in platinum. It's not very accurate since it also says he has only 28,1% ban rate, we all know that it's a bit higher. I don't want to judge that site but I wouldn't take it as reliable info. You also can't compare regions like that. It's different in every single region, they each have different playstyles, for Korea it's a very agressive gameplay and that's also why Darius has lower pick rate and that results in extremely high or low win rate. Highest win rate champion in one region may be lowest win rate champion in another. Depends.

No, Volibear, Yorick and Illaoi they all have counterplay. Volibear relies on his sustain from passive and ult to do reasonable damage. He can be poked and if you add grievous wounds it's even easier. Q has short duration, if you can run from that you are fine. For Illaoi, you just have to be mobile. Gankplank against her is a nightmare, she can't hit you if you know when to move and how to position. You will win trades without losing any HP. If she ults just go away. Yorick? Just don't ignore him, he can only split nowadays... On the other hand, Darius has high enough movement speed, heavy sustain, CCs, true damage execute. We all know very well how hard it is to trade with him, he will use W to slow you down and have easy time hitting Q, you will get damage, he will heal up and you will get DoT debuff. Those nerfs are really very reasonable in my eyes since it takes some of his trading potentional early on, but it's unchanged in late game. Not to mention that those are just little changes. That's also why it's impossible to give him faster cast time on Q, because they would've to take something from him, be it sustain or part of the damage, and it would ruin the image of Darius in our mind.

I dunno, I really think that he is just fine atm.

That's weird as hell, guess they have an update time where the numbers shift.

Ye, I meant Voli doesn't have counterplay. The others do though.

Into Illaoi you pick ranged stuff like Kayle or Jayce, if you don't like that get tabi and phage. Into Yorick you pick stuff that can ignore his wall. Into Darius you pick mobile stuff or range, get either hp or ms and damage.

Volibear falls into 'AA harder' design, has low skill expresion and is currently a VGU candidate.

That 'bugfix' on decimates 5th stack was nail in the coffin. If you compare Darius to pretty much any other juggernaut, you will see that he is the weakest one at this point. Even Garen is arguably stronger than Darius .

That's because he was balanced around having it. It hit him real damn hard.

He's still not shitier than Udyr though.
