Long range mages and magic resistance

Which item is good for long range mages?? is for melee or short range mages like Ryze,Twisted fate,Annie,Swain. i don't think this item is good for Lux,Velkox etc etc but they have nothing after Athene's has been turned to a support item. Very few AP and also MR is not so much Abyssal is still the best choice because it gives 60 AP and MR + 10% CDR but there is a big disadvantage for them to not be able to use 25 mag res reduction.
