Selecting a champion in ranked?

Is it better to try to get the same role and champion that you are best for every game in solo que and try to carry that way. Or is it better to try to branch out if you feel this champion would be better in this position. For example: You try to carry as yasuo mid, it's your best role, but you see pantheon going top and you know shen does well against pantheon and you play a good bit of Shen too, not as much as yasuo but you're comfortable with him. What should you do?

It depends if you want your Rank to reflect your skill with your main, or your ability to play multiple roles and champions. For me, I am much more skilled at my main Nami than anything else, and I want my Rank as high as possible and am perfectly content with saying "I am Gold-Plat with Nami and Bronze with anything else".

You definitely want to have experience in every lane on a few champions though, because you won't always get what you want. I never run Nami outside of Ranked and run a large variety in Normals to practice for that.

It really depends on the situation. If you just want to climb, then always play your main. If you want to improve though, then take the opportunity just do not feed, least you can do if you're not going to carry is make it easier for others.

Just make sure everyone gets what they want. Don't jeopardize the game by putting yourself in the back seat while taking someone's main role.
