Ekko nerfs

Tbh, i see this as more of a nerf to ekko overall than to tank ekko. Removing the slow may be hard for me to deal with as an ap ekko main (i dont play that tank bs), but it was admittedly the right move. However, early game ekko really relies on this slow for trading in lane. Locking down his target is really important since hes got delayed damage, but if he doesnt have a slow anymore he really will have trouble doing that. I feel like ekko should get a movement speed buff to his passive to make up for it. The problem for tank ekko was that he was locking down targets with his slow for HIS TEAM. Without it, it really emphasizes the fact that HE should be the one to kill his target, not help his team get to the target. I appreciate the extra 10% ap on his q, but maybe it would make ekkos life a little easier if he could get a little more movement speed early so he can more reliably catch his fast targets like he was originally meant to now that he cant slow.

Tank Ekko is so problematic because you can't kill him quickly and you can't get away from him in a lot of situations, AP Ekko still has plenty of tools to go in, do burst damage and ult out or just die while taking at least 1 person with him. The slow on his passive doesn't affect his burst as much as it affects his high sustained damage with a tanky build

Whether or not it's used for damage or not, It IS a loss of power nonetheless, and for a champion who doesn't really need any more power trimmed from their kit when they're played 'as intended'.

Everyone agrees that Tank ekko was an abomination that should never have happened, but cutting power from an already mediocre champion is bad, regardless of whether it's CC or cd or whatever.

He got the slow removed(which'll mostly hurt his early, as his delayed play pattern makes it easier for people to punish him) and a nerf on his passive damage(which is his main source of damage) in return for a 10% increase on Q ratio. Keeping in mind his winrate hovers around 48%-47%~ and every patch that changes him, seems to decrease his bases and increase his ratios pushing his power even further into lategame.

As to whether upping the movement speed is the right call, I can't tell but I think SOMETHING should be done to compensate for the loss of that slow, and a gimmicky way of activating W through R while cool and all is just a gimmick and doesn't seem useful for ap ekko in the slightest

he wont be viable as a mid laner anymore

u do realize that rito made his w stun super reliable now. all u do in w then e then press r as fast as u can get a free team wide stun. its pretty braindead actually. and i think it was a terrible move by riot. you dont have to wait anytime for his w to stun now.
