can you give me some tips or stuff i should know before playing ranked? im just kinda nervous about it i feel like i would just become a total noob when i get on ranked for some reason. is it like normal or is there something different about it? and will i get some people higher than my level? like going against someone in gold or something because i dont know my rank yet im not sure if we're on the same level that might scare me if i go against one

The only difference is people will be more likely to rage/be toxic, and that there will be a +/- value of some number at the post-game screen.

Otherwise, there is none. What does it mean? Keep calm and treat it as if you're playing normals.

But do try your best, good luck!

Best advice? Stay away, and have fun in normals.

  1. ban yi,xin,jax,udyr,tahm,zed,raka,mundo,graves,garen,etc...
  2. pick karthus mid or yorick top.
  3. farm until either level6 with karthus or you take tower as yorick
  4. now because all lane and/or jg that is not yours has fed their opponents and you couldn't do shit about it, use your kit to make up the difference by either ulting the most fed person on your team as yourick, or just press r as karthus every time you see one of them low.

You have Runes and mastery's right? If not go buy some. Remember to relax in game, yes it would be nice to win your 1st ranked game, but you don't have to win it to do good. Dont flame troll or afk. Ban Xin Yi or udyr when you get to, or if you have 1st pick trade to your team or play them if you know how to. Try to get your best champion.

Hope that helps; let us know how it went

Don't take it too seriously.

Take it more seriously than a normals match, others will be. Mute button is your friend; much better to mute your team and enemy team than to listen to toxic words that make you lose your concentration. Ward as much as possible. Play a champion who you can carry as and be global with because you can't expect others to carry you in Bronze & Silver.

Treat ranked the same way you treat normals... because it's the same thing. There's hidden MMR as well here, meaning that if you land in bronze 5 due to terrible luck, as long as your mmr is above that you'll be gaining a lot of LP each win/losing very little LP.

First ten matches, absolutely dodge if you see an incoming doom in champ select (trolls, ragers, etc). Dodges don't count as placement games and you don't lose LP either.

In ranked, there are two types of people - those who try hard (generally like 60%) and those who first time champions and generally treat it like normals (like 40%). Over the first few trades decide whether the other guy is better or worse than you and play accordingly (aka harass the weaker guy, be cautious against a better one).

That's about all that comes to mind. Just don't treat ranked like something special - it'll only make you feel nervous. In terms of seriousness, it's more than enough to take good matchups with champs that you mostly play. I don't suggest first timing champs in ranked though, partially because you make yourself feel nervous and partially, well, because you can show like only 50% of skill that you have after spending 1 match of normals/bots when training.

My advice is play FOTM champs, or at the least, have a team comp with alot of hard CC. Ranked is all about tryharding, so if you don't pick the powerful champs, they will. Might help to mute people, ranked is basically the same as normal draft, but with a considerable amount of raging. Use your wards excessively, and roam when possible. Some good bans are Xin, Kog, and Udyr

Expect to be placed silver or most likely bronze. Don't let it discourage you that you will be placed here. Everything else is the same.

The only difference is that their is a ban phase and everyone is hella nervous or gets mad extremely fast. Just play it like its normals. Best advice really is to not look at the LP gain/loss or ranking it will only make you sad most of the time. Mute people if you want, move on, and just play the game how its meant to be, by having fun.

A few things.

  1. Ward, I know a lot of people say this, but it's really important.
  2. Communicate, use pings all the time. Did the enemy lanee disappear then ping. Want to push a tower ping the tower, etc.
  3. Play your best champ.
  4. Have fun.
  5. Change your play style to fit what is happening in the game.
DrNova2/17/2016, 7:31:24 PM1 votes

Relax. Its more competitive then normals, but don't over try. Stay calm and have fun.

Mute toxic people right away.

Avoid off weird picks in weird roles unless you are practiced in them and know how to deal with the common opposite picks.

Not feeding sometimes is the best thing you can do for your team. If your lane is tough, stay safe even if that means missing cs sometimes.

That bring said, cs is important and separates the good from the bad.

Above all, teamwork and a positive attitude.

TaoistMaster2/17/2016, 7:37:12 PM1 votes

Use the mute button when you need to.

Don't play when you are tired.

J Epstein2/17/2016, 7:37:26 PM1 votes

don't do it, you will enjoy league alot more outside of ranked. Once the box is open it can't be shut.

ChaosReignsDown2/17/2016, 8:28:52 PM1 votes

/mute all

Learn how to be carried. If someone on your team is playing like a beast, change your playstyle accordingly. If you're top, and every 3 minutes you see your mid kill theirs, then start playing passively top. Try not to let the enemy top kill you. If you have someone getting fed, don't let someone on their team get fed accordingly. If you start giving kills, you're actively throwing.

If you're a bruiser and someone on your team is becoming a monster, just build more defensively, and become your team's frontline so your carry can do their work. You don't need to do damage when someone is fed enough to do enough damage for 8 people.

#1 Ban udyr #2 Ban graves #3 Ban Xin #4 Get a comp with heavy cc #5 Don't feed gl summoner
