Riot reasoning for Zac change finally comes out

So *Phreak said it, Riot changed Zac because they were unhappy he could be played multiple ways. You could build tank and be a disruptive supporting tank or you could build AP (really bad idea btw) to delete anyone you land on or hybrid (Liandry's torment + tank) capable of threatening the backline while also being able to absorb some damage (like Vi, Hecarim, and Nocturne). Zac was changed so that the only option is to be a disruptive supporting tank so that he could fit Riot's vision (his damage was gutted, specifically lost 60% of his ultimates potential damage). Pre rework, his strongest build and playstyle was full tank in the jungle, but some people (like myself) had fun playing Zac in a different way. I liked to play Zac in top and mid lane, built him hybrid, and carried myself to diamond 4 years running. This rework has been a giant fuck you to anyone who played Zac in an unconventional way. "We know you had fun playing Zac in different ways, but fuck you, you should only play him the way we designed him".

This rework destroyed the champion I love and played daily for years. I can no longer play him top or mid, nor can I carry with him like I perfected over years of playing this champion. The funny part about all of this, is that Riot may have destroyed Zac top and mid, but they made Zac support rather strong. Their haphazard attempt to conform Zac to the vision they created has created an all new problem they will need to fix. I have already climbed an alternate account to Platinum 1 and am well on my way to Diamond just playing Zac support, and that was before the recent buffs that have made support Zac even stronger. So now what Riot? Are you going to destroy Zac support since it doesn't conform to your vision of Zac?

I still believe the smartest thing Riot could do now is to revert Zac completely and make an all new champion with the kit they designed here. It could even be "good" Zac and the "evil" Zac that Zaun intended. Zac presents a unique opportunity to create two "Zac's" that actually fit the story line and make everyone who liked either the pre-rework Zac and post-rework Zac happy. Well, your move Riot.

Can we get a link on this? TBH I don't trust what one person could have twisted his words into.

Second, You built Zac pure tank with a item 3151 every single game. Thats not really a "hybrid" build. Thats practically full tank. The fact was that Zac's damage while building full tank was out of line once you factor in the insane amount of mobility and how zero effort it was. He was a walking wall of ambient damage with a built in GA.

Although he was obviously not strong right after his rework, Riot has been taking measure to push him back to a decent spot. As with al reworks, you cant expect everything to be completely fine the first day

So... Riot no longer wants build diversity - the cornerstone of mobas - and wants champions to be pigeonholed into ONE playstyle. Delightful, nicve to know we have proof now.

I haven't seen this. Would you mind providing a link to the post?

Nevermind, found a link on TheSecretWeapon to Phreak's 7.10 Patch Rundown.

Join the club. Champions that I have mained in the past are Sion Poppy Galio . They all had their identities completely destroyed with their reworks. RIP assassin Poppy, AP nuking SIon, and super self heal Galio.

I haven't watched, and don't need to.

Tanks shouldn't be able to kill non-tanks in one quick rotation. They're supposed to be disruptors.... for ex: Rammus could easily solo almost any ADC or fuck it most APCs as well, but it would be done very very slowly..... there's a reason his ult has such a long duration/overall damage.

He talks about Zac starting 1:04:18, if anyone's wondering. It sounds like Phreak's reasoning isn't that build diversity is bad, but rather that someone with so much disruptive capabilities shouldn't also have so much damage.
