Fellow Shen mains, Question about laning against Pantheon

I am finding it very difficult to lane Pantheon. He spams the sh*t out of his spears and it chunks Shen's health hard. I literally had a pantheon make me teleport back at lvl 1. I could not farm at all. I build armor he gets BC and chunks me even more. My W does little to help especially with it's CD being longer than Pantheons spears.

What do I do to counter him? On Champion.gg it shows Shen having a better chance statistically against Panth but so far I have yet to experience this. Of all the champs I lane with Shen, Panth is my personal weakness.

Should I run Armor marks instead of hybrid pen for extra protection from his spears?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Poke him back with your Q's and use your W to negate his Q damage. If he uses E, E into him so it cancels it and you should be able to win the trade since he wasted 1 of his abilities. Rush sunfire cape.

Panth wants pen, so you're probably better off building health. But he's a hard lane bully anyways, so I would just look to outrotate him if your jungler doesn't want to come up.

prolly doing something wrong if your losing to a pantheon start armour and 5 pots

Typical your taking too much free dmg as soon as pantheon is oom he's hseless in lane

Don't start with Doran's Shield. It's better to start with Cloth + 4 pots (you can't start with 5 pots anymore if you use cloth) because that gives you better health gain during the early game (due to the extra pots). In addition, armor reduces damage more than health during the early game, especially because nobody has penetration items yet.

Buy a Sunfire Cape. This item has everything needed to allow you to combat Pantheon. First, it has health (Pantheon's penetration will be less worth) Then it has armor (reduces the damage from his abilities). Finally it has a passive magic damage that allows you to damage Pantheon back and outtrade him.

Poke with Q's to get rid of his shield passive when it comes up, but other than that stay away from him early. Rushing armor items like item 3047 item 3082 will help you to sustain in lane.

Pantheon in lane is just obnoxious to deal with in general.

Get jungler to help. Build tons of armor/health together. Don't let him get his full combo off. (as in WQE, but if he lands W there's no escaping it)

A pantheon spamming his abilities will run out of mana very quickly. Out sustaining is probably the best bet? This might mean maxing Q and health pots. Also, you don't want your empowered auto to be wasted on his block. Keep in mind he will have the shield up after jumping to you. Maybe try to time Ki strike's cooldown to come up after his block is down from a regular attack. Not sure if that is at all practical but still something to try for.

It's really easy:

Step 1. Stack armor and HP Step 2. Be Shen Step 3. Win game

Pantheon can't do shit once you get just 3 armor+HP items( item 3068 item 3742 item 3143 to name a few). Having trouble in lane? I find it rather surprising, considering you can both spam the shit out of your Qs but his actually costs mana which eventually runs out. Your energy however, does not. You can also use your Q to heal yourself both by last-hitting minions as well as marking them and autoattacking them to get the regen.

item 1029 item 2003 x5 item 1054 The only stuff you should buy at the start of the game.

His mana never seemed to run out. I was watching i was very surprised. He was most likely a Panth main and knew his combos well.

armor marks and quints, flat hp or hp per level seals, cdr or mr glyphs. start item 1029 item 2003 x5 and you should have 60+ armor. Spam Q on him when he comes up, and you should be doing a good bit of damage seeing as its magic damage.

As far as fighting him, he will likely push lane if he uses his E at all, so when he is poking you under tower use your taunt and try to get some turret shots onto him and use the power of your minion waves against him. I first blooded a Riven because she had 600 minion damage while trying to fight me with 80 armor. It's rough but as long as you dont die early to Panth he will quickly fall off. Good Luck

He's strong early but he will fall off late as long as your not feeding him. He runs oom fairly quickly if he's spamming his q. Even if he gets armor pen he'll have an extremely hard time keeping up if you're building armor and health. Plus you'll become more useful for your team than the panth because of how hard he falls off.
