How deep are these reports looked into?

I have a feeling people are reporting for the littlest of reasons.

I just got reported by a group of people who threw out words like "fa**ot" "Suck Dick" and calling us "Pedophiles". I made sure I didn't say a thing back. They report me for offensive language. Cause I received a warning for it.

Now ,I definitely reported them for hateful speech and abuse. The thing is, If I'm being reported and receiving a warning yet I did not partake in this activity in game, how will Riot know who is really at fault?

I really do think the reporting system is abused.

Punishments are not based solely on reports. The Player Behavior & Reform systems review the chat logs from champion select, the match, and the post-game lobby to identify toxic players and apply punishments if applicable. If you didn't say anything negative or toxic, I wouldn't worry about that report notification; as a matter of fact, I get my fair share of that notification as well!

The warnings only inform you that you were reorted. They are not a strike against your account, and won't do jack shit against you, assuming the reports are not valid.

Yea this system is absolutely asinine. Recruit some behavioral psychologists to help you figure this out because the way your reporting system works currently is garbage. I was given a chat restriction from reports from groups of players that were incessantly shit talking. I engage them to tell them that what they're doing is completely pointless. They get personal. I get personal. I end up with a chat restriction. Are you joking? Do you not want your player base of decent human beings to stand up for their teammates and tell the trolls and blatant dicks off? Take a look at Dota's model. To be honest, there's more chat freedom. You can shit talk if you want to a degree without worrying about restrictions, but that also allows you to say what needs to be said to some of the tools that play these games to do nothing but harass other players. The difference is that in league, you get banned for standing up to them. In Dota, the community takes care of these idiots by themselves by standing together and telling them that what they're doing is fucking retarded. Have a little faith in your community. There are more positive-thinking players out there than negative. We don't need a recreation of the third reich to keep the ragers at bay.

(Extremely) simplified version: Warning popups are based on report quantity over quality, in order to reach all toxic people. Punishments are based on report quality over quantity in order to spare all innocents.

they are literally stupid. actually using language like that in game. from just a pure, self-preservation aspect, any system created by a half breathing developer would have a lookup for profanity like this. ( naturally I assume this is built in, i realize that now just from the client having the profanity filter setting )

Warnings supposedly only warn you that you've been reported, but not that you are going to be punished, if you did nothing wrong, the riot entourage here claims nothing will happen to you, so have no fear, riot scientists will examine the report, see that you didn't say anything and you'll be fine.,

Why downvote someone who is clearly asking a sincere question?

im writing these words, cuz i saw a ton of bad behaviors today. but just wanna tell that we have no power in this game. tribunal is just a system to make everyone think that they are helping this game gets better. i really don't know everyone's report will come to?

First thing to clarify: You did the right thing in not responding. You kept your cool and played through it. That is commendable behavior. Secondly; Other than reporting those who flame and use language like that there isn't much you can do. But when hate speech and other things are involved a person from Riot DOES look into it. They get a chat log copy and will see that you did absolutely nothing wrong. The number of reports does not increase your chances at being punished in the slightest, you can get punished from 1 or 9 reports. Just keep up the good behavior and keep your anger down and you will have nothing to fear from the current system~ Simple as that.
