Shen or Katarina?

So I was playing one of my rare games of normals (I play Co-Op bc I suck) and on the enemy team there was a Katarina on the enemy team that completely stomped us. I was also considering saving up for Shen , but I just want to know, which champ is more fun and overall more rewarding to play? (I don't play mid at all, but if Kat is fun enough I might consider learning it) Are there any other champs that are very rewarding when mastered? Also I'm broke at ~200 IP, I already have Warwick , Darius ,Jax , and Fiddlesticks .

Katarina has one of the best winrate when master, also she is really fun to play. The only problem is she is very difficult to play.

Kat is extremely fun and rewarding, however she can be a little difficult to pick up at first, so if difficulty is a factor, I'd go with shen, but Kat definitely wins in the fun department

Your name is literally FaceRollKatarina... Yeah difficulty isn't a factor because I am patient to learn the skill. But, I played Jax and Fiddle a couple times in normals, and most of the time I felt absolutely useless. Will you be able to do "things" on Kat while still picking her up? Thanks! [katarina-love]

Depends how you play, you don't want to fall behind or you're gonna get crushed, but if you can go even or ahead of your laner you'll be ok. Also rush gunblade on her since thats her big powerspike, when she gets that you'll notice how strong it is on her

At least for me, Shen is really fun. He's not really as flashy as Katarina or a lot of other champions but he's easy to pick up and has a deceptive amount of room to improve on him plus he can be played effectively top, jungle, and support. Also, you can really impact the game if you get good with map awareness and his ult while having good dueling potential in the early game if you play well. It probably comes down to what kind of role and lane you prefer to play.

So the reason why this Katarina stomped you guys is because Katarina is a very snowball champion which means if she is able to get a few kills then she can get very strong very quickly and carry games, however if she does not get ahead she can become very weak and very useless to your team in the late game. Katarina is a high skill cap champion that a new player like yourself might have a hard time to master, heck I`ve played for almost 2 years and she can be challenging for me. You should consider these if you are going to buy her.

Shen is fairly hard but not in the same way. Shen is a tank so you need to be able build tank items and protect yours mages and adcs so they can do the damage you can`t. Landing your E taunt can engage winning fights. You also need to be EXTREMELY map aware. Your ultimate can save people cross map but you NEED TO ABLE TO SEE WHEN THEY NEED HELP. This is a special skill good shens have.

I see you have a few easier champions already bought and that's totally cool, going for harder champions is a bit risky for a new player like you but just keep trying out champions and eventually you will find one you love. My favorite champion is Vladimir, with a lot of burst and huge heals he never gets boring to me. Theres a champion that suits you out there buddy!

GL HF in your games buddy. Katarina and Shen are fun champions in their own way. If I had to choose between them myself Id go Katarina because Shen can be a bit boring in my opinion. Im not super into tanks but that's just me! Tanks can be exciting for others.

Ok, thanks! I've been watching some Kat VODs and her knife sounds are so satisfying [sg-jinx]

Yeah! A sweet Katarina play is always super flashy and sweet. She`s probably one of the easiest champions to get a pentakill on due to her passive.

I strongly recommend against playing Shen. Aside from his global teleportation ult, he's a MUCH LESS reliable and effective version of Maokai.

Maokai does every thing he does in a team fight (protect carries, lock down carries) except better since his lock down abilities are point and click (while Shen has a dash you can easily miss). Also, Mao has better lane match-ups, more survivability in laning (wave clear and free sustain) and has a game-changing Ultimate.

The Shen Ultimate? You'll get to use it maybe ONCE before laning phase ends in the chaos of Solo Q. And your team must know how to play around the Shen Ult, which they won't in low elo. So you'll have times where you Ult in only to have your team walk the wrong way. Then you return to your tower a few EXP behind the ennemy laner. Also, it SUCKS to lane as Shen with only 3 combat abilities while the other laner has 4. He has a non-combat Ultimate.

The pro strat of splitting late game with Shen and then Ulting to your team is not going to fly in Solo Q most of the time either (people simply can't adapt to this style). But if you group up... you're basically a less reliable version of other tanks like Maokai and Nautilus.
