I need help against assassin Jarvan.

Im glad that I rarely see this match up but whenever I play against Jarvan in lane, he can 3 shot me as soon as he turns level 6. Even when he's oppressive in lane, I try to counter build him. I built Ninja Tabi and Zhonyas and Rylais for the hp as velkoz but he still 2 shots me as soon as he sees me. The last time I went against one, the only armor pen item he had was duskblade and he still somehow 2 shots me. It doesn't help either that his shield helps him to dive me. He was the mobility and burst of an assassin (when building full ad) along with a shield and some crowd control. Any advice?

Take exhaust.

Dont waste your money on tabis, it doesn't do anything against his combo, get HG instead. Stay outside of his W range and his combo is quite dodgeable. That is admittedly harder to do now since they upped it to 600 range.

I know that ninja tabi's passive won't work on jarvan since he's not very reliant on auto attacks. I just mentioned it because I bought it for its armour. I was aiming to resist some of his damage so I could at least use my e when he jumps on me and combo him. Even when I do that however, I still can't survive long. I will however bring exhaust when I see him.

If your looking to prevent being two shot by the manliest demacian of them all then you might as well build full tank. Best advice I can give is to poke him with your super long range poke as velkoz and to prevent him from getting close.

SKip the ninja tabi, the armor is fine, but the passive wont negate much damage from champs that get alot of dmg from skills. Either get cooldown boots to get your flash up more oftern or just straight pen for the kill

As velkoz you should never be in range if you can help it, and you need to play around his flag pre 6. Learn its cooldown. If he closes the distance with it punish him hard when he attempts to walk back towards his tower, you want to keep him down early. After 6 stay safe, dont give him a lead. focus on cs If you really need to get him gone call for jungle ganks

I don't try to get within range of Jarvin the problem is it's hard to evade him because with his QE combo in addition to his cataclysm he is able to cover a lot of ground even when I try to play safe even when I am under my turret. Just saying I don't think riot needs to nerf jarvan. Just do to jarvan what they did to lulu and ekko so assassin Jarvan is worse than fighter Jarvan. I will try to play safe and depend on my jungled though.

J4 is gonna build pen anyways, so he will counter your armor. Combined that with if he is going mid, he prob has around 14 armor pen from runes and the pen masteries.

Zhonyas and hp is the best counter, survive the burst. Return the burst

If he lands the Q+E on you the fight is lost if he uses the Q+E to get into range you can knockup ignite flash follow with rest of your combo Never ult inside his ult either

Sometimes you just need to admit you cant beat a laner cause they counter you, unless they of course outplay themselves. As Velkoz take your superior teamfight ability to delete assassin J4 later Just remember if you starve him to much he will roam, so prepare for that as well

Well, I mean, the reason Jarvan is relegated to this lame ass goomba stomp build IS BECAUSE they took away all his utility. Put his ult back to being single target, give his flag back his armor and bam, you won't see assassin Jarvan any more.

Well, Jarvan took my Shyvana from 100 to zero between two turrets at level 6 with a Tiamat in an instant combo. It was literally not possible to be within a screen of him without dying.

Be aware of his ult cooldown, and ignite if he has it. If you know either of those is up you should play safer. Generally the key to laning against him is to not get hit by Q, but that is a pretty hard ability to dodge with how quick it comes out. The alternate solution is to buy lots of pots and abuse him when he's low on mana - he has huge mana issues in lane.

Also, while this wouldn't help you in game, it could help to look into playing someone top lane that isn't Vel'koz. Some mid laners translate really well into top, but Vel'koz is a little too squishy, and if you don't land your E on him you will definitely die.
