LeBlanc Rework

DarthFantasia··35 votes·3,234 views

Although I understand their goal for the LeBlanc rework, I think it was a failure. New LeBlanc is just a clunkier version of old LeBlanc but she does even more damage and snowballs even harder but falls off even harder if the game goes past 25 minutes. With new LeBlanc, if you land her E the target is almost guaranteed dead early game. It procs her passive by itself and it is impossible to escape without using your flash. Late game, she is even worse than before. You have to wait a second after using your W, in which time you will most likely be CC'ed and killed. On top of that, you need to wait 2 seconds to proc her passive, which is almost all of her kits damage.

In short, please revert LeBlanc to her previous state.

At this point Riot is just sweeping her under the rug as a mistake. Lb went from a QRW nuke to a 1.5 second mage and now she is becoming a 5 second mage. Taking away damage values from her W but giving her better wave clear. What are you doing with this? Setting her up for late game? When everyone is full build and all adcs tanks and mages can out damage you before you even dare W in to get an AOE sigil on the enemy. Atleast she will have great cs right? To be very honest if you are gonna continue to gut Leblanc. You will be forced into three options. Just continue to gut her and letting her collect dust in the roster as some of your other amazing champions. Yorick, Urgot, Galio. Second option go the kogmaw route and revert her. Back to the QRW nuke that she used to be. When she was still called an Assassin. Or go the ryze route and plan her next 15 reworks because you can't seem to get it right. You need to sit back and really think about what you want to do with leblanc because all you are doing is giving a bandage to broken bone. It won't fix the problem. By taking damage away from her W you are just making it even more difficult to kill the enemy. A zed with a hexdrinker will have a much easier time just walking away. Since her W only does 10 damage at max rank now. I guess it fits her deceiving nature. It looks like I am about to kill you but it was all a trick. I can't wait for the next PBE cycle. Where you make her new passive summon clones that just laugh. Her Q now targets your minions and give the enemy free gold. Her W can't jump past minions or walls and is on a 60 second cd. Her E has the range of a melee champ. and her R we removed because she is so strong she doesnt need it. CANT WAIT TO PLAY LEBLANC and DO NO DAMAGE AS A MIDLANE CARRY

I laughed pretty hard, just because all you wrote is going to happen.

kennyboiswag2 votes

actually her waveclear will be the same, because the extra 40% to minions on her q is balanced out by the nerf on her w.

Fisher No Chains3 votes

Yeah, because an assassin is supposed to clear a wave and then not being able to kill anyone. Fair enough.

Come on, they gave her some waveclear because they reduced W and RW damage and doubled her ulti's cooldown. And you know what? Not a single LeBlanc player ever asked for waveclear.

But LB is a kite mage now, didn't you hear?

Right how she in the pbe we can say janna is a mage too

Fisher No Chains1 votes

Considering she has higher bases and scaling, yes lmao.

Fisher No Chains1 votes

Yes, I also heard that the guy currently working on LeBlanc has no idea about how to balance champions.

You could ask Akali mains and they would probably agree with me.

Nah, it will be 100% winrate since she's not even gonna be picked

MrHaZeYo7 votes

Right? Those nerfs seem way to harsh.

Leonerdo4 votes

It's because they are testing an "extreme" version of the changes (which they have started doing a lot on the PBE) to get a better feel for what that particular nerf will do to her. If it does make her useless on the PBE, they will know that the ability was more crucial to her success than they thought, and they will go light on the nerf when it hits live or find a different thing to nerf. If hurts her moderately, but she still finds occasional success, then it's a good nerf and they will probably release a less extreme version. If it doesn't hurt her at all, (that is really the most informative situation) it tells them that that part of her kit isn't the problematic part, and gives them a pretty clear message that they need to try something else.

If they tested a less "harsh" nerf, then all of that data and the conclusions they draw from it would be much less clear-cut.

At least, that's what I would guess is their reasoning.

DarthFantasia1 votes

Guess not. They went on and now LeBlanc is garbage. Her, Azir, and Ryze are so bad right now.

Leonerdo1 votes

Huh, guess they got tired of her being strong? They want to try getting her to a balanced state, by working from the other side of the "balanced" line? Fuck if I know anymore

DarthFantasia1 votes

You think she is balanced the way she currently is? She has the third worst win rate in the game right now. That's not balanced at all.

Leonerdo1 votes

No I don't think she's balanced. She's probably gonna join Azir, Shen, and Kalista in the Pros-only club

DarthFantasia1 votes

She didn't. Pros went from banning her or picking her in almost every game to barely ever using her, let alone banning her. Of the pro games I looked at from week 8 (about 5 or 6 sets, so around 18 games), LeBlanc was only picked in one of them.

Pale Pirate2 votes

There were seriously times where pre-rework Yorick had a 100% winrate, because 1 guy picked him in whatever high elo and won.

Fisher No Chains13 votes

At least her quote "surprised to see me?" will be a thing, since no one will pick her anymore. :^)

Why on Earth would we want to revert her to old LB? They changed her because she was always a balancing nightmare. So why change her back if they're just going to nerf her into the ground in that state?

She needs a full VGU at this point

The state she was in before was 100x better than this one. She wasn't picked much in competitive where as this new one has a 100% pick/ban in Korean competitive. Old LeBlanc was completely fine, she wasn't getting nerfed constantly, and old LeBlanc compared to Syndra's current state is laughable.

She was, there was a lot more counter play and there were a lot more picks better than her.

http://lol.esportspedia.com/wiki/LCK/2016_Season/Summer_Season/Statistics/Champions

She was picked less than Twisted Fate in LCK Summer split

http://lol.gamepedia.com/2016_NA_LCS/Summer_Split/Champion_Statistics

and as for NA she was also barely picked in the Summer split last season.

She was and is 10x more over powered in this state compared to her old state.

She had drastically less counterplay lol. Delete a squishy in .3 seconds and retreat with her insane mobility

I think she's more a balancing nightmare right now. People are complaining about her E while riot nerfs W and RW into a mobility skill, meaning either E buff or forgotten champ forever

The PBE changes are drastic, and will likely change. But it's just disgusting to see Riot is willing to go THAT FAR DOWN in numbers to see if shes balanced.

Leblanc has always had the same problem, teamfights. Her rework made them worse because of the W 1s delay on returning, 2sec burst window.(?)

Why is Leblance the only assassin that has a 2second burst window? Every other "assassin" does it under a second. (if you don't kill your target in under a second then its likely unsuccessful.) The reason LB is so strong right now is because her passive deal 80% of her damage. It makes casting Q + W seem pointless because the either the target is already dead from your chain+chain+passive proc or they're not even close to dying and q + w wont kill them.

I'm going to get downvoted, Don't give a rats ass. But if you're gonna nerf LB reduce her W return time and let her proc her passive after a second of a spell landing on the target.

Or did you forget about fizz? Whose W takes 2 full seconds and R takes 2 full seconds to pop? Oh you did? And whose E doesn't allow him to just pop back to where he was and leave him in melee??? oh you forgot that???

I think the point of trying this nerf out is because leblanc should not be able to double distortion and AOE the entire enemy team while having among the best mobility in the game and ability to pop a single target like any other assassin while having range and good wave clear. There has to be some trade offs. Fizz has many. He gives up a way out of the fight and has to sit in melee 2 seconds to pop off damage. He gives up his escape to wave clear. He has no range. Escape is on a 6 second CD late and it's one way. Meanwhile leblanc pops in, double distortion aoe team, throw a Q and E and teleport back out while fizz's shark has 2 seconds to pop AND it's a skill shot ult and going in leaves him within retaliation range.

You need to have some windows of vulnerability and that is what the passive proc does. You either sit in retaliation range to get it off, or you take W distortion back out of the fight after throwing out some damage. Leblanc players aren't used to it because the old iteration was engage out of retaliation range, instantly pop target in .1 second and instantly port back out. That is why fizz got changes with his 2 second window, that is why leblanc is getting them.

It's not 1 sec return delay. It's 0.25 seconds.

Also, other than Katarina, Diana and Fizz, I can't really think of any Assassin that have good team fight. There is a reason they are called Asassins.

tbh, after a long time failing to adapt to the new Leblanc I told myself "pretends it's an entirely new champion" and I actually started adapting. But then, this. https://openclipart.org/image/2400px/svg_to_png/222252/feels.png

edit: to be constructive: Old leblanc mains never imagined Leblanc as a mage. The leblanc rework is acceptable only as a rework for the greater good of the game, not one for Leblanc players (the clone mechanic has some potential though). But this is taking it too far.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

LeBlanc is still an Assassin, she is not a Mage.

Pale Pirate1 votes

I read the full LB patch notes now, it turns out the one going around didn't have the Q damage buff for some reason. I always played old LB by maxing Q tbh. Her rotation's damage is still down for the sake of killing minions, which I still don't upload.

zaire903 votes

lol i think everyone seems to forget the instant 100 to 0 lb that they reworked but go nd revert her and then i want to see how many people complain about the instant damage rather than the delayed damage that the adc can turn on late game and force her to run away since she has to wait for that proc

Stardew Valley2 votes

They wanted to make her more deceptive with the clones since she is a deceiver. imo they should just remove the E passive proc (It can still mark) and decrease the wait time for passive to be able to proc by 0.5 seconds on levels 6,11,16.

DarthFantasia1 votes

That sounds like a good idea. Nerfing her E would make it possible to play against her in the early game, and decreasing the wait time would make her terrible late game a little less terrible.

Kixsy2 votes

If we're complaining about how old LeBlanc had no counterplay, surely you'd also be complaining about Zed, Talon, Syndra, Katarina, and Rengar being unbalanced as well

DarthFantasia1 votes

I wrote another post about how I believe that lethality is making AD assassins overpowered. The other day I was using Anivia. With only Yoummus, Zed one shot me from full health with his ult. That is ridiculous.

AirKingNeo2 votes

Problem with Old LeBlanc is she has 0 counterplay. While new Leblanc lacks that too for many matchups, both are broken. All the Leblanc rework did was give her counterplay, and then lower her weakness by giving her waveclear.

OutKaste2 votes

This rework really is frustrating for me as Leblanc is my main midlaner. I didn't pick her for her strength, just for her similarities to my playstyle. I expected a nerf but this is much too harsh, it basically makes her nearly unplayable. I think if Riot gave her a small nerf such as extending the cooldown on her ult a few seconds and buffing some other midlaners, people would realize that she isn't insanely OP and worth a ban every game.

Cosmic Warper2 votes

Either revert the rework or have her passive cook time scale with levels along with lower base damage on her E and higher scaling so she can't chunk your ass with one E to half hp, and at level 6 kill you
