Serious question: is vi or shyv broken atm?

VelvetCrotch··2 votes·861 views

i got a game today where i snowballed early as vi. i was 4/0/1 and wanted to def botlane. this botlane was pushed buy a shyvanna who was 2/1/0 and just just had bloodrazer. i got trinity. level was even cause she farmed during my ganks. and she killed me.

i was surprised and asked in all-chat if shyv is broken. then some of their team and one of mine responded that vi is broken atm and not shyv.

i cannot believe this.

any opinions?

Press the Attack

I think that's some of it. Bloodrazor helps a lot there.

Vi seems pretty balanced for me, she just sits slightly above 50% winrate.

Shyvana seems a bit too strong at the moment in my opinion, her winrate is 53%. The most likely reason for this is that she benefits extremely well from the Precision runes. She basically gets everything she wants. 18% bonus AS for her on-hit damage, extra tenacity, extra AD after blowing up a squishy.

But most importantly: Shyvana synergizes too well with Press the Attack. She is able to proc it instantly. She just has to AA + Q, her Q counts as 2 auto attacks and is an AA reset. Add that she is harder to peel than before thanks to tenacity and her ult dash, she is able to reliably murder squishies and keep going,

They probably have to nerf her damage a bit.

Runes before champions.

The problem is that Shyvana is able to utilise Press the Attack much more efficiently than many other champions, since she can proc it instantly.

Other champions with AA reset are not able to do that, since their AA still just counts once. Camille Vi Renekton Trundle

They will probably nerf Press the Attack and we have to see where this puts Shyvana then. But she has an unique interaction with that keystone and if adjusting PtA on a fair level for most champs still leaves her overperforming, they have to nerf her instead.

They already have hit her Q a bit

When and how? I didn't notice any changes.

Zane Zephyr2 votes

Apologies, they lowered her base AD by 3 to gimp her early clears a bit.

thank you for the insight. makes much more sense this way tbh. hope shyv will get some tweaks too even press the attack will get nerfed.

  1. Your extra HP from trinity was cancelled out by her bloodrazor, more or less
  2. You've got burst, she's got DPS. If you don't kill her with your burst, she wins.
  3. If you get hit by shyvana's E and she gets the full duration of her W, she's got an advantage.
  4. Vi is a diver, shyvana is a dueler. Shyvana is meant to 1v1 while Vi is better at dealing a lot of damage and getting out.
  5. Shyvana is a counter pick to Vi. https://lolalytics.com/ranked/worldwide/platinum/plus/champion/Vi/

In general I think neither are broken.

thank you, sir. didnt know she is a counter to vi. very good explanations. (tbh in this game, i tried to build her (vi) more dps ^^) but i forgot shyv's synergy with W and E. >.<

what i forgot to mention was, she was already half hp and i was full life. but if bloodrazor counters trinity.... didnt know that tbh.

Both are doing well currently.

Damage is really high so if u snowball on vi or shyvana u get pretty strong . Then again ur playing vi and shyvana so if u don’t get free kills ur going to be useless late game

VelvetCrotch1 votes

i know that already but you can still build tanky lategame like e.g. a renek.

depends how many drakes did she have and did anybody use challenging smite and if she lands her e on you don't try to duel her

VelvetCrotch1 votes

at this time she got, i think, none. (i guess it was clown drake) i did three. (ocean, infernal and - i think - mountain)

Vi is a pretty shit champ if you ask me. Notice how we don't have very many champs left in the game where a basic spell slot is wasted on a passive.

The ones that do have this tend to be bad champs. This is Vi.

Not true in my opinion. Look at Kled, he is another champion with a skill slot dedicated to a passive and before the rune changes, he was a great example of a balanced champion since release.

He was neither too strong, nor too weak, he was just right.

Granted, the rune changes left him a bit weak, but that has nothing to do with his passive ability. A small buff will help him out.

Kled's W isn't a passive. It's a toggle you can't choose when to activate. It isn't just some neat set of numbers or effects to what you do. It's actually a move...you just don't get to control when you use it (to reinforce Kled's ballistic nature in his game play).

That's how you define it. In my definition, it is a passive with cooldown.
