I miss the Honor system, Ex.: Santa Baron Icon
Well the idea behind it. When Honor first came out back in 2012 and people thought it would matter there was a definite uptick in people being polite. I didn't say nice, I'm not asking people to be nice here, just polite though definitely increased. (The differences between someone telling you to fuck off for no real reason, vs not, weird that it's noticeable) And the Honor was given. People even did some Honor begging, to the point where sometimes in games if you are polite, or even say something nice people call you out for it even today in season 6.
I miss when Riot did that, because I thought it meant a whole development into reformation through positive rewards, ya know.... the Carrot in the Carrot and the Stick. The Santa Barron Icon coming right on the heels of this deployment with the explanation of how to get this so: > "You’ll get this icon for staying off Bad Santa Veigar’s naughty list, and spreading holiday cheer this Snowdown"
It was going to happen. Pavlov was right, give good continuous rewards, and people will in fact exhibit better behavior to receive those rewards. There were compelling reasons to follow on with this, skins for continuous positive behavior for instance, maybe IP or even riot points, a tiered reward system for positive behavior. There are so many freaking skins that giving some out for free to condition behavior is perfectly acceptable. As you now see with Hextech Crafting. They want us to play more, and with different champs so they reward you for doing so. Look up Hextech Crafting to see what I mean if you don't know.
It was all about being "good", also known as polite. Again, I don't think anyone is asking for people to be nice, just polite. People still today use this Santa Baron Icon. It's my favorite one. It's an honor to play a game with someone I see has one because I can almost be assured at least that person wont just start flaming me for no reason. That's what that Icon means to me, just like a green Ribbon means the same. I prob even expect them to be nice if they have a green, maybe not a yellow.... but then ya know what.... I bet most people even forgot or don't know all the different types of ribbons, let alone the supposition of what it might take to **earn **it.
You abandoned your best avenue for reformation in this game Riot, the Honor System, and a Reward System along with it and you would not be seeing so many damn posts about hate, and trolls, and anger.
Please reconsider, bring back a full development of Honor, with Rewards that are both meaningful and that make people want to be polite at least, if not nice. It is in your power, and I as a humble player challenge you to do so.
P.S. I still have an account with a Green Honor Ribbon, idk why but I barely play it just to keep that ribbon.... I know... I don't know why.... But I bet you it has to do with player conditioning.
