Why is Ornn being hated so much? And why nerf him?
Someone just explain to me...
Someone just explain to me...
because he was overpowered
He's tanky, does a lot of damage, and people don't like being forced to learn new things. That's the simplest way of things.
When he first came out he was under-performing, so Riot buffed him up. Then he was doing too well and so Riot started weakening him. People hate trying to lane against him, even though Riot's main problem is his massive teamfight potential. Then again I don't know why I'd expect anything but complaints about his damage when he does magic damage and squishy people refuse to build even one piece of MR.
As he is now he's no longer OP, but he is still strong so the bandwagon hasn't calmed themselves yet.

Hmm, alright. Thanks for taking the time to explain this, I appreciate it. But I mean he's kinda a similar case as Nasus, they are both characters that are represented to be somewhat God like beings. They shouldn't be nerfed because they are able to deal more damage than some carries for example.
This is something I been thinking about lately. This game doesn't have to be balanced because not all characters in this game are the same, and not all characters should carry the same power regarding their differences. But I still agree to balancing certain things (that are obvious game breaking) like the buff on Galio Q that would delete anything if you've built full AP.
Think about it this way, in the league universe it is obvious that it would take more than a one human sized with 3 guns (Jinx) to kill a God like being (Nasus) or Ornn for example. That's why champions like him exist to make players play around that, and make them think strategically and work together to defeat them. Or atleast I think that's how Riot themselves look at this.

The problem isn't that he is so powerful in his attacks. The problem is that he has that, is an insane tank, has massive cc, has huge team fight capabilities, and doesn't even need items to do some real damage. Its okay to have a strong champ, but then there needs to be a weakness or counter. The stronger power they have the stronger a weakness should be. ADCs can deal huge damage, but get popped. Huge burst AP have items such as Banshees that block the initial burst. AD burst champs......okay there is no current counter, but you have a lot of people angry about it to. Ornn just does it all, has no weakness, and is not easy to counter. Honestly, I would vs a Susan any day before an Ornn.
I take the other stance, Ornn is a much more passive lane than trying to keep susaN in check. Then again I play Garen against him, and my spin allows me to pass through units. When he tries to breathe fire on me I just spin through him and avoid a significant portion of his damage.

With Garen that is true, but not for many other champs. Ornn is on my list of it being a cold day in hell before I gank with
and
If you play as Ornn for several matches you'll learn how to counter him with no difficulty whatsoever.
In that respect he's like an old-league champion: you actually have to learn how he works instead of just blindly charging at him.
Similar but not quite the same. Nasus is balanced around being a Juggernaut, which is supposed to have high damage and defense at the cost of utility and mobility. Ornn is actually listed as a Tank and has decent damage, high defense, high utility, and moderate mobility. As a Tank he doesn't have the class based weaknesses that keep Juggernauts in check. Since other games have the Tank role as a damage sponge with no DPS of their own people make a poor assumption about how League Tanks are supposed to work.

Well when you put it that way, yeah I agree.

So when will people complain about Zoe?
Are you new to the Boards? People haven't stopped complaining about Zoe since she first hit the PBE.
So when will people complain about Zoe?
People just don't liek seeing half their life disappear with one shot, especially since she is able to do it much earlier than most mages. I don't mind her. She is annoying for sure, but while she has lots of damage and mobility, she is easy as hell to kill. I love going mid vs her with Anivia or other area damage. When she does her warp I cast my freeze on her spot when she comes back BOOM she is dead.

I try to do that too, actually, if I have champs who have delayed spells/damage, like Gragas and Veigar.
Because a tank shouldn't deal that much damage?
Yeah it's kind of the old tank ekko scenario where Riot releases a new assassin but it's a bit overtuned so they build full tank and can still one combo squishies.
Wait, what's that? Ornn wasn't intended to be an assassin? Oh... oh my bad.
I don't play top myself but the biggest complaint is that trading with him is extremely hard. His W has about the range of Annie's cone so he can hit you with it while you're trying to farm, dealing a lot of damage and forcing you away for a good chunk of his W's cooldown because getting attacked while brittle not only forces you off of Ornn, it chunks you hard.
BUT IT HAS A COOLDOWN DUH. Not realizing that brittle lasts for 6 seconds while his ability already ticks down and what does brittle do? Knock you back, chunk you and even chunk you more and heal him if he keeps his grasp up which is not hard to do. So his W has an effective 6 seconds cooldown early.
You only get brittle if you're hit by the final tick. Move out of the way.
When a scaling tank is a lane bully that is a problem
his r has low af cd his w is straight bullshit when trading he has tons of cc pushed into his kit, some with small windows of counterplay his w does too much damage
He is a huge lane bully, kinda hard to gank, and a great team fighter.
Look at the gameplay clip from this video of EU LCS yesterday.

Look at the gameplay clip from this video of EU LCS yesterday.
So after looking at it...
1st fight was a quite a bad call to tower dive as Camille took too many tower shots and she was CC'd.
2nd fight wasn't all just Ornn damage but Azir soldiers too. Plus it wasn't only just damage from Ornn himself but the
itself. Which is quite a good offensive/defensive item for tanks that allows them to do some serious damage.
You asked for someone to explain it.. and I gave you the most recent example I could find.
He's too tanky, too much damage, able to be unstoppable, and has too much cc. All of that together leads to a ridiculously op champ. Its like sion, but his ults just an ability, and you cant stand near walls when facing him.

I know and I wanted to thank you for providing a solid example. I'm not denying Ornn does seem to be able to deal a lot of damage.
i actually wanted to make a thread about it. Just ridiculous. OHHHH THE OUTPLAY WAAAAAOW SO GREAT. He pressed W, stopwatch AND W AGAIN after being completely out of position . What a great player with a great outplay. He has a stacking slowpushing wave coming towards him, no reason to be so greedy and overextend to a lvl 6 camille and would have been a deserved death for him if he weren't such a disgustingly good outplayer on ornn.

I still would prefer to play against a
rather than
...
Because we dont find anything remotely fair about this kit out damaging a tank buster with a
& him building nothing but defense items.
Because in a perfect world, tanks have a large amount of health, a large amount of armor/mr, some disruption, and NO DAMAGE.
Right now Ornn does too much damage for being a tank.
