The standards for an S+

Why are the standards for an S+ so off? My last game on Riven I went 15/3/7 with 306 CS at 37 mins and i only got an S. I've gotten an S+ for far worse stats.

Standards are set by the players automagically, as grades just look at your percentile performance compared to all other players on the same champ in the same role in the region, so if people are getting better performances, the absolute requirements go up, and if people are doing poorer, the absolute requirements go down, but relative to the playerbase you always need to be the same (in the case of S+, you need to have a performance in the top 2% of performances).

Keep in mind theres a lot more to grades than just kda and cs though (warding, kill participation, objective participation, etc.), so occasionally 'worse' performances may actually be better due to less immediately visible aspects of your performance.

You compete against everyone else on your champion in your role. Be in the top 2%, and you will get an S+.

3 deaths is already too much for Riven. I had games as 15-2-X garen and still only get s- if not a+.

What was your damage dealt to champions?

Because there is no Standard. You're graded against other players on your server playing that same champ in that same position over the last (undisclosed duration of time).

I went 3 - 0 - 7 with Leona (support), kept my vision up, and CS shouldn't count when you're a Support (generally, the higher the number the worse support you are); but I was using Relic Shield, but I don't know how they take that into account with my numbers. I got an A+ Overall, it was a brutal game. I think we went something like 32 to 11, 7 towers to zero, and them surrendering before 25 minutes.

My ADC made a fair number of questionable plays, ended up going 5 - 5 - 6, and got an S. ...I definitely felt that our grades could probably have been swapped.

4/0/21 107 vision score

Still only A+ on nami.

Another game 5/0/6 at 20 mins and still A+

APPARENTLY one death on naming means locked to A or less
