Fixing MMR

A lot of the discussions seem to revolve around LP and ELO rankings, while in reality the actual quality of your games and team mates seem to be primarily determined by your hidden MMR.

From what I understand from a quick research MMR gain and loses are based on the simple binary of winning or losing games.

It does not seem to really reflect in any sense your personal performance and your personal incremental betterment at the game. You can in fact consistently perform better than your average ELO but continue losing games, especially if you aren't playing hypercarry champs.

Perhaps your MMR should factor in other things beyond wins and losses. Things like kill participation, vision score, damage to objectives, personal KDA etc.

The primary determiner of your MMR should still be your win-loss ratio, but by factoring in personal performance, perhaps you could reduce the frustrations derived from the meta, toxicity, smurfing, people throwing, inting, afking etc. Things that seem to plague every ELO beneath high Diamon.

Sincerely a bad Silver/Gold Garen player frustrated by the 0/8 botlanes.

Lord, no. If you want to climb, you have to do things differently than what you're doing now and improve at the game. Any measure that goes beyond "did you win or did you lose" in figuring out where you belong means people stop playing as a team and start playing as selfish jerks. No way.

It's a bit more complicated then flat Binary values. How intrested In the topic are you?

Stat systems have real issues.

The metrics themselves are distractions. Winning is all that counts. (And Eternals are bad.)
