Ranked system

So I have been playing a lot of ranked recently... and the system makes 0 sense to me. For a total of 3 times now, I get demoted from Gold 2 after 1 loss at 0 lp, which is pretty unfair. On the other hand, I somehow got to Gold 1 at one point in this season, and I lost 7 games in a row at 0 lp and got demoted on my 8th loss. Does this make sense to anyone??? Riot please explain this or fix the system because something is wrong. Thank you for taking your time to read my rant.
