What Changes do you like and dislike so far for Preseason 2020?
I posted this on Reddit already but the link is below if you want to look there but I am posting here to see opinions from the League board in addition to Reddit.
So far from what I have read so far with the preseason article as well as seeing gameplay footages from youtubes and the League of Legends Youtube Channel there are both things that I like and dislike so far. Do note what I say may not necessarily be right and is all opinion and is subjective and all the preseason details have not been fully listed yet until Tuesday or Wednesday on the PBE.
What I like:
The dragon souls - it will make the game more dynamic and give special bonuses that gives more incentive to take objectives and I do like all what the souls give especially mountain drake which would make playing tanks feel more satisfying in games with the mountain drake as the main dragon in those games thanks to the shield.
Mountain Drake changes - as I mentioned before I do like the new shield mechanic but I also like that it now gives both bonus percent armor and magic resistances instead of bonus true damage on objectives which would help address the damage creep somewhat if it appears in the rift.
Dragon rifts - Summoner's Rift is a nice map but after awhile it does feel a little stale despite how beautiful it looks. All the dragon rift changes I like and it will force both teams to change tactics on both pathing and warding depending on which dragon changed the rift. All in all these changes will make the rift not feel like the same map each time you play it.
New alcoves and brushes - The alcoves are a way for both top lane and bot ways to juke around skill shots, trick your opponents and help escape from ganks and death if used in clever ways. Even in skirmishes or teamfights these new alcoves can help initiate fights from a different angle. The brushes also make new playmaking potential when the enemy lacks visions also since those paths are important to head to the objectives (drake, rift herald, and baron).
Conqueror true damage removed - while it did give bruisers a chance to fight tankier foes it felt like building bulky as a tank felt worthless since the true damage ignores resistances and glad that it will give more bonus stats instead possibly making a better middleground for both tanks and bruisers.
Spear of Shojin
removed - Thank goodness, this item was unhealthy especially for those who abused it such as
Riven,
Jax, and
Renekton, and others did not benefit as much from it and those who could use it felt like most of their power was put into this item like old devourer or
rageblade.
Rift Herald spawns - with rift herald spawning multiple times it will feel like top lane (and maybe mid) will feel more valuable to assist to take more turrets down and make comebacks.
Lethality items - while I don't play assassins too often these items will give more options to build and play around and not just force most assassins to build combo with
Youmuu's and
Duskblade but will not try to feel oppressive with a full lethality build (unless everyone is squishy). Sanguine will be very interesting to those who want to both split push and counter split push such as Talon or Zed as well as duel thanks to the lifesteal and attack speed. The new lethality hydra will also give assassins better wave clearing and burst compared to the other hydras too at the cost of durability and slightly weaker aoe damage from the active.
Kleptomancy - Some champions with abilities that proc basic attacks such as
Kayle,
Ezreal, and
Illaoi made the lane feel like they were gaining a bit too much of a gold advantage just for harassing the enemy littlle by little t so this adjustment might make the rune healthier and not as abusive.
What I dislike:
Dragon souls (also)- At the same time I am a bit afraid that once the 4th dragon has been taken for one team that the game will snowball to their advantage while the enemy team will have an even harder time making a comeback since the enemy can't get the soul bonus once elder spawns.
New Elder drake buff - While it is more of a visible buff I am not too comfortable with the elder drake execute as it feels like you effectively have less health than you should when soaking any attack as a tank or squishy and the team that does not get the elder would feel oppressed.
New Air drake buff - I much prefer the current air drake since it gives an advantage to roam around the map, juke, and chase compared to the new one where it merely gives ult cd reduction. Some champions such
Elise,
Jayce,
Zoe, and
Nidalee, won't be able to benefit much from it and will feel like it won't be important to them unless they gain the soul buff.
Support item changes - while I appreciate Riot for try to discourage solo lanes and jungle from abusing it, it will feel less satisfying once the gold generation is removed tier 3 and having less stats in the item will feel less satisfying for supports as even they need stats to contribute to teamfights.
Jungle and duo lane xp changes - not comfortable with these changes either since it feels like the jungler has to force to gank more when underleveled and duo lanes will feel more behind in ganks especially when mid comes to gank bot.
Thanks for reading my long opinion and let me know what you think about my thoughts or about preseason in generals.
EDIT: Oops did not realize that the reddit link would be expand my post making this post redundant.
