i'm sorry dude, it doesn't work like that. you can't have a guy who's constantly at a gold disadvantage be your main tank.

last game i say "i don't have a naturally tanky support, we're going to need a tank"

top locks riven, jungle goes lucian.

riven predictably loses to urgot top

lucian gets kills, but dies every time he gets them.

"bard u need to initiate better" how? they've got a lulu speed boosting them out of my stuns/ults, and an anivia ashe CC wombo combo.

mid top and jg dropping the blame on me when our lane went 4/0, while the rest of them traded kills.

can people please stop being selfish with their "sick lcs pro play" assassins and just help out with tanking?

the riven top and lucian jungle had the nerve to tell me to buy a tankier support next time.

Taric gets really tanky with just two tank items + Tier 2 gold item + Sightstone, though. By the time I have the Tier 2 relic, Locket, and Frozen Heart, I'm a beautiful beefcake. But yeah, that ult is so amazing when timed right. Once turned a certain 0-3 teamfight loss into a 4-2 win that earned us an inhib (which in turn gave us Baron and then the game).

Also, Leona. Max W give some pretty huge resistance bonuses, and those can last for up to 6 seconds. More than enough time to get at least 2-3 kills for your team.

If your only tank is your support, then it needs to be Alistar, Taric, Leona, or Braum. If it's not Leona, then you need a reliable initiator as well. Taric can and Braum can, but both initiation tools can be easily avoided and aren't reliable enough as the only initiating tools.

Yeah. Still just having a support as your only tank isn't ideal simply because they are then forced to initiate, frontline, and peel which no one can really do. Most of them are also only good tanks for so long.

Naut should probably be added to that list though with his silly % health shield. Imo Naut is the tankiest support (not counting ali ult)

That's true, especially as an initiator. I'm still not used to him being a primary support, even though he entered that meta what, 2 years ago? I still think of him as a top/jungle tank.

I pretty much only think of Naut as a support but that is just because he was my most played support last season and I couldn't jg/top on him for shit.

I just default to tanks in general so I don't get this problem. Though this is because I follow the philosophy of "If you want something in your team comp, make sure you can be it."

As of now I'm learning some AP top laners and more ADC's, because we have too many AD mids (hence the AP top) and I suck at ADC.

Honestly, Bard can work pretty well as a tanky annoyance. He's difficult to really lock-down and his utility is pretty valuable anyways.

i did well for a while. item 3102 item 3025 item 3117 item 2049 and was building a locket next.

the problem was that we had no sustain on our team whatsoever, no tank items on anyone other than me because Riven Lucian jg Fizz mid

enemy anivia mid was 4/2 at 12 mins enemy shaco was 3/0 at 12 mins urgot was just trading kills with riven all game until he got tanky enough to demolish her

enemy bot lost until anivia started camping bot.

Riven can do fairly well with a durable build. While it might not be optimal (and many people are likely to just go full damage), Riven does have some options for defensive builds.

For example, something like the following might be worth trying in certain situations: item 3158 item 3071 item 3748 item 3812 item 3026
