In regards to Urgot, a potential rework

How to make him more useful, without changing too much of who he is.

Passive: Advanced Zaun-Tech Targeting Array - Urgot's abilities and basic attacks lock onto enemies Urgot has attacked, granting enhanced vision of their location.

Q: Augmented Noxian Hunter = Toggle Ability (On) - Urgot's auto-attacks gain increased range and damage, but expend mana per auto-attack. = Toggle Ability (Off) - Urgot's auto-attacks restore a portion of his mana if he kills his target.

W: Terror Capacitor - Urgot shields himself and a nearby ally, and grants them a portion of his Armor and Magic Resist. Enemies who attack a shielded ally are slowed and have their attack-speed reduced.

E: Noxian Anti-Personnel Charge - Urgot tosses an explosive that bounces and then rolls to a designated location, exploding after a short duration or right after hitting an enemy champion, launching shrapnel out and dealing damage to nearby enemies and reducing their armor and magic resist. An enemy champion may suffocate the shrapnel if they are on top of the explosive when it activates, but take increased damage and armor/magic resist reduction as a result.

R: Hyper-Kinetic Missile Salvo Rush - Urgot stores charges of missiles that replenish over time or after getting a kill or an assist. When activated, Urgot briefly channels before firing a missile in a target direction, which continues until it hits a target, exploding and dealing damage to all enemies struck. Enemies that Urgot has locked onto with his passive can be targeted by the missiles, and said missiles become homing, avoiding all terrain until hitting the target. While channeling, Urgot may reactivate the ability again to fire more missiles for his attack (extending the channel), for as many missiles he has stored.

My thoughts after reading this:

Passive: After he has used an ability against this target, or a basic attack, how long would the enhanced vision last?

Q: This idea is amazing, I am in love with it and support it 100%

W: Perhaps the attack speed reduction is a little much, considering the fact that they're already getting slowed? Unless the slow and AS debuff are very short.

E: This is a fantastic idea, reminds me of Gangplank's barrels but offering much more follow-up making for some quite exciting combos with him.

R: I fear that his ultimate would become incredibly toxic for it to be homing just for activating his passive; seems like there would be little counterplay offered to him when he already attacks from FAR away with all of his abilities. It's like Ziggs, but with strong AA's too as well as inescapable damage. Let me ask you this; what does his kit not offer? No mobility? Alright, but keep in mind he's supposed to be ranged, and with his Q, I imagine REALLY ranged. So now we've got a champion who can't be engaged on because he can attack from so far away, has homing missile ultimates, can shield himself, absorbing damage and slowing ANYONE who actually tries to go all-in on him, which should be the way to counter him. Perhaps change it into something like Rumble's ultimate, but make the ultimate capable of targeting enemies if he's procced his passive. This would reduce the toxicity since he wouldn't just walk up with charges upon charges of missiles (even though I acknowledge the fact that they have a casting time).

For the passive, it is maybe 2-3 seconds?

The W's debuff is short and only refreshed if the enemy champions continue to attack, but it only affects champions who attack your ally... a sort of way to discourage people from attacking your shielded ally.

The E is something similar to Gragas's barrel, but the aoe is large and it is meant to make a teamfight favorable, but the ability to cover the shrapnel explosion is a means to basically zone the tank to the explosive's location if they want to prevent the entire team from getting damage and being more vulnerable.

The ult activates against anything that it hits, this includes minions and monsters and it isn't as fast as say your typical ranged ult, so if it isn't homed then it could easily be wasted by just about anything from a minion wave to a random jungle monster to just juking the missile. Also, I only said it avoids terrain, in the normal ult it can explode if it hits terrain, but champions and minions and monsters can still block the ult. And finally, I had it channeled so that it can be interrupted.

Oh, I'm sorry about the ultimate, I thought it evaded Minions and Monsters as well. In that case I would say it's much fairer. The W makes sense now, good idea, I like it :). I love your idea on the E and how the tank would have to sacrifice grouping up with his team to prevent them from taking the damage assuming they couldn't reach fast enough, would work really well as zoning. Good ideas all around, let's hope Riot reads this because I would most certainly use Urgot more if he was like this instead.

All sound like really good ideas. These are my thoughts: not a fan of the ult. I feel like Urgot should always have some sort of displacement engage type ult and a long range missile doesn't really fit... Also the AS debuff might be a bit much on the shield and would the 'grants them a portion of his Armor and Magic Resist' mean they gain Armor and MR that scale based on Urgots or that he temporarily donates his resistances to them?

I have an idea or an ultimate that feels more like Urgot to me:

Hyper-Kinetic shock trooper: Can only be cast on a unit afflicted with Advanced Zaun-Tech Targeting Array. After a 0.1 second channel Urgot teleports to location of the targeted champion, at the time of casting, upon landing Urgot knocks back all enemy units in an area equal to Urgots current attack range dealing magic damage, more damage is taken closer to the center on the impact.

I probably haven't worded this too well but i think this would keep that feeling that makes Urgot different whilst also being a little more useful that his current ult. It can be used to lock down certain targets or you could damage a minion or neutral monster to use it as an escape.

Feel free to say it's crap, just an idea!

Well you're thinking and trying to promote Urgot, and that is always a good thing.

Maybe instead of basing it on his total armor and mr, it sources from his bonus Armor and Magic Resist? It could encourage the traditional tank build Urgot and make him a more effective tank in shielding his squishy allies, but it would be a sacrifice if you wanted to focus on a damage Urgot.

The AS debuff is basically to deal with auto-attack based champions, since I doubt Urgot could be built and be on par with others who play as traditional AD carries.

I'm always for work on the ultimate, my suggestion was simply because I felt his ultimate in it's current state was ineffective.

I think the reason for that is there are better champions who can make better engagements, like a Wukong who can go in and just knock up the entire team if they are too close together, which is what I felt you were trying to go for.

I always imagined an Urgot rework to have him as promoting his whole 'missile thing.' I was hoping a rework of him might basically turn him into a Noxian Metal Gear, you know... mobile nuclear missile artillery platform? Because the current ultimate felt a bit... gimmicky to me, I mean I understand where they were going for with it, but I always felt what they were trying to make Urgot was essentially League's very own Metal Gear.

Well, I guess they could always make a unique champion in that vein, I don't want to warp an old champion's identity just for a vision I have of what that champion should be.

Going on your idea, it sounds nice, but if I had to be honest, it needs a bit of work. I mean I could see Urgot charging and knocking an enemy into a wall to stun or suppress them (looking at him, his crab legs could really work overdrive for a very short moment and his girth along would add mass to his impact), but I am not sure how he would knock up everyone around him.

I'm trying to figure out what might fit him more if he warps places with someone else.

I reckon these all have potential but some slight tweaks.

Q: Love it but maybe it is like Veigar passive or Thresh souls and upon killing a unit with the empowered auto it could be like a Tear and upgrade the damage.

W: Keeps the same feel but the AS reduction is a little much. The armor is fine but would make him a top laner and not an ADC.

E: The bounce is nice but doesnt feel right. It could maybe be like a hybrid between Ziggs W and Heimy E. It could do one bounce and then have a timer (say a second) and then do the shrapnel thing.

R: Dont like the missile feel. Maybe instead he targets and enemy and supresses them then he brings them to him as well as stealing their armor (so if they escape they will be severely weakened) or he switchs places instead of bringing them to him.

Passive: Much better than the E because the E animation is really obvious.

Maybe everything except his e could scale with mana because that would be awesome.
