Late game champions -- now useless?

Onwodori··2 votes·798 views

Hey there, Onwodori here.

The meta has become super fast paced now -- ADC's scaling up immediately, towers crumbling, rageblades raging. The game can be more or less won within the first ten minutes, meaning that champions such as Gangplank, Kassadin, Nasus and Veigar that need sweet, sweet time to become a threat do not get those 25 minutes of zen.

Does that mean they are now not worth using as opposed to their level 3 dominating counterparts, IE, Rivens, Renektons, Talons ....

Thanks and pray for Rageblade nerfs,

-Onwodori

Depends on when starts the lategame.

For Jax it is as soon as you have item 3124 .

Late game champs are not useless. Sure, games have become faster, but if you do drag out those games and get those late gamers going, you will have a good chance. If the people who say "late game champs are useless" are the same ones that say "ap champs are useless" don't listen to them.

I main AP and I think it's still viable.

Actually, I had a lot of sucess with GP. He starts hitting really hard as soon as you get sheen, and keeps getting better. Nasus is actually strong if your team don't feed a lot, since at 20 minutes if you stack well (aka 350-400 stacks) you kill turrets with 2 Qs and a few basics. Veigar is so-so, doesn't shine so well unless the game drags out (happened to me maybe 2 or 3 times since preseason changes). I worry about vayne (the new meta with rushing static+rapid firecannon really hurts her DMG output mid game), and probably even more for kog, karthus, anivia...

I am a bit of a GP main actually or used to be (Finding him a place in the meta ATM ... Sure top lane works, but I always played him runeglaive in the jungle and that doesn't work anymore. The AD enchantment works pretty well though, and thunderlord's decreee procs on your ultimate giving you a global static shiv effectively.)

Many traditional late game champs are now mid game champs because of item 3124

Poppy's late game apparently begins at level 2 with 10 stacks of Fervor.

well i play nasus, and i can tell you its very hard to come back late game, if your team is feeding the enemy. i can get a string of kills like 10-1, but then eventually they pop me, and with me out the rest of the team becomes more food, and then we lose drag, or turrets etc. if the game is even then yea late game champs have a chance but if one side is snowballing....no chance
