"Early in the client alpha we announced that we weren't planning to rebuild the legacy client's item set creator tool (although the updated client still supports custom item sets). Players passionately asked us to reconsider, so we did."

About four months ago, Riot revealed their intentions to not bring item sets into the new client. I was one of those passionate people who was (I like to think) leading the charge, so to speak, in opposition of this.

So I would just like to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Riot, you really are an exceptional company. We were disagreeing with one of your choices, and even though you had the numbers that stated that we were the minority, you listened to us. We asked you to reconsider, so you did. You guys at Riot take a lot of crap from the community in general, yet you always listen. Even if it doesn't seem like it, you do. This really touches me on a level that I can't fully explain with words. The confirmation that your small opinion has been heard is one of the best feelings in the world, especially when your voice can easily be drowned out by all of the trolls out there.

Really like that they'll bring the creator back eventually. Doesn't matter if it is the last thing they port (tbh, a lot of other features are more important), the important part is that it gets ported. And possibly improved (a grid like in the in-game shop would be nice, for example, to select stuff from).

They seemed to be stressing the fact that it will not be soon. I think it'll be delayed for a year or more. I value item sets much more than an updated client, yet they don't. I wonder what other pointless features they will prioritize right before item sets.

Honestly, it just feels good to be heard. The great thing is, I was on the side of "don't get rid of item sets," but through my post and other people's posts, I was able to see the other side. Even though I still wanted item sets, I was able to see the logic in getting rid of them. I had realized that I wouldn't have been surprised if Riot stuck with the plan to not bring item sets back. And yet they listened anyway.

yes and you can currently still use the legacy client to make item sets

You can use other tools to make item sets too, like http://lol.item-set.com

but then you wont have them in the ingame shop

right now you can opt to launch legacy client make your item sets close legacy client open new beta client load game and voila item set still there

it's a work around but you get to keep using item sets this way

i suppose something like lol item set would work too

but i like to make complete sets so i can click on that sunfire cape and see all the parts and then buy/upgrade what i can at the moment its faster that way then having to find the item all over again every time you open shop

That tool I linked to does let you put it in the in-game shop.

You download the zip file, extract it, and put the content in the correct folder. They follow the API that Riot gave for making custom Item Sets, it checks out.

Plus it'll be around longer than the Legacy Client.

These are big words in comparison to other bigger, worse decisions they've made regardless of what everyone has been begging for.

But yes, Item Sets are pretty good to have.

I'm happy to see that it will be back, I just wish they would move it up higher on the priority list. The item sets I made are not where I want them to be anymore and it's annoying to start building items only to remember "oh wait, I changed that one to something else". Still,better late then never.

Funny how this is brought up again when they said quite awhile ago they were bringing it back. So it's not like this is new.

you got totally b8ed m8. they were always going to add it back, its just going to take a few months after legacy client is removed completely everywhere apparently. when they said they "probably were/werent" going to add it, it meant, lower your expectations, or be outright disappointed right now, so later on we can gain some positive PR during an obligatory announcement. item sets can only be considered a useful and positive tool for league, they were never planning on removing it forever
