Mordekaiser in 5.18.
Preface: I started playing Mordekaiser more constantly the patch before the Juggernaut reworks. It looked interesting. I've been playing him wherever possible after the Juggernaut rework, mainly mid, but the occansional top / adc / supp. More or less, these are the changes I would like to see to Mordekaiser.
W - The changes on the PBE --
- W can now be self cast
- Health cost increased to 25/30/35/40/45 from 0
- "When Touching" damage increased to 180/250/320/390/460 (.9 AP) from 140/180/220/260/300 (.6 AP)
- Reactivation damage increased to 70/95/120/145/170 from 50/70/90/110/130
- % heal on minions lowered to 25% from 33%
I think these are going the wrong way. This looks like it's going to buff his duo lane potential over his solo lane potential. We want his duo lane potential nerfed. Partially so his solo laning can be buffed, partially so he stops being perma-banned. II'd prefer something along the lines of,
Health cost increased to 12/15/17/20/22 -- All of his abilities have some cost associated with them, just for the sake of consistency.
Duo damage 70 / 120 / 170 / 220 / 270 -- Early game nerf to his duo, forces him to actually put levels into his W. Makes it a slightly weaker standalone skill. The extra AP scaling encourages AP style builds in duo lane, but still trying to nerf that.
Reactivation damage 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 / 190 (+.3AP) -> (+.45AP) -- Gives him slightly more damage in solo and duo lane.
% heal on minion AND monsters. -- Stops bot lane Morde from taking Krugs / Gromp for free, and walking into lane with a exp advantage.
E:
+50 range. -- One of the biggest things I see about being able to self cast the W is for the MS bonus, and allowed for Morde to generate his shield from a respectable. This is to attempt to alleviate that. It's still a net nerf from pre-juggernaut.
R:
Better AI -- This ability got buffed, and I'm incredibly happy with it. I would like if the targeting for the AI wasn't linked with Mordekaiser. There are multiple times where I wanted the ghost to fight the tank, while I keep trying to zone their backline. Or I want the dragon to go after their carries while I focus the tank, ect. At the very least, it'd be nice if the Dragon didn't randomly change targets, after being given an order.
I'm not going to say that I miss the stat checking Mordekaiser of old, but I do enjoy the new version. Multiple build paths, basically every item is viable on him. I respect that Riot wants him to be viable bot lane, but it's currently a bit overtuned. The highest win rate build (as an ADC) he has, maxes his W first, followed by his Q, and finally his E. Best case would be that all three options are viable for bot lane. Q for single target burst, W for trading / chasing, or E for poking.
Getting Mordekaisers W to be self cast, and get the full advantage. It's not going to work out.
