How to keep support items away from the other roles(along with other benefits).

item 3069 item 3401item 3092 ^Nothing that isn't a support will ever want to build to these period. Supports want to build these ASAP, or at the very least the items leading to it. This makes these items a strong gate baring the cost efficient support items from non supports without effecting the champions they are intended for.

Such a change would have prevented item 3190 being abused by cho'gath and Zac.

I wasn't around for the Ardent meta but I imagine such a change would have prevented abuses by Oriana and Lux mid if they did.

Beyond making these select few items way less savory to other roles, this also would allow riot to more safely add items to this item pool. This would allow them to change the existing items to better suit supports not needing to compromise concerns of abuse by others. Even putting no credence in the previous two sentences, at the very least sectioning off these purposeful items to their intended purpose could only be a benefit to the game. Any argument* to that point otherwise?

so...you basically want to nerf the ability for players to build anything their heart desires?

no

that ruins part of the fun of the game

besides, items have a meta just like champs...and honestly not every item will always be good on said champion

if I want to build ap shyv, which is useless outside of her dragon form then I will do so

So, what is your proposition? I don't get it.

IF someone buys a support item to have all their gold automatically funneled to that item until it is complete? I just don't get what you are suggesting here.

I don't know what your suggestion even is but I tend to delay fully upgrading my support item until I've got 1 or 2 items. Rushing Athene on enchanters usually gives me so much more lane presence than bad stats and a fourth ward.

I'll usually get Athene/Mikael, Boots and Ardent before upgrading.

Ok how are you actually going to make it to where the other roles can't take the support items? like you even have to take into account and Lane swapping in champ select. And if you make it to where you can't get support items unless you have a summoner spell that allows you to take it like smite does with the jungle item then guess what people would just take that summoner spell and support items out of the support role so back to square one.

Ok... when you actually tells us how you would prevent other roles from getting support items you can comeback and make a thread about it instead of an incoherent rant about whatever this is supposed to be
