What is Garen?

He's naturally.

-Manaless -Has a silence -Has a high magic damage execute (%HP added with justice) -Has a 30% bonus movement speed buff the doubles as an attack and a silence -Has unfair natural regen (can stay in lane forever, almost impossible to kill when played right)

Builds Black cleaver and is still tanky while dealing massive damage -Can dive your back line and still be an effective tank even if not attacking at all -Big hit box, good team fighter-----> works well with the regen

So why did riot nerf lee sin? Garen is the definition of overloaded, Wheres the counter play? The only way your going to do anything with garen is if the player is an idiot or you play a specific champ. I was fine with darius as darius as obvious weaknesses, But garen? HA!

-He's also melee and incredibly kitable. -He has no hard CC to justify him being an engage tank -He doesn't have the reliable gap closers and burst to be considered a fighter.

He's a juggernaut.

He jumps in a fight, does enough aoe damage, then wades his way out of it. He sits in the back line regenerating health and protecting the carry, then when he's full again he can consider going back in.

But honestly, he fails at being a master at anything.

Remember the threads saying how bad Garen was? How he could never be competitive? This is the closest Riot's done to compensate him for that. Be glad they nerved him at all since the rework.

If you can't push Garen out of lane before he hits level 16 and actually gets his good out of combat regen maybe you shouldn't be playing top lane...

vayne is a good encounter and now with grievous wounds most adc will counter him.

garen has the same weaknesses as all of the juggernauts: he's immobile. his q breaks all slows, but you can just slow him again right after with Frozen Mallet or Ashe. it's really not that hard to kite him. percent health damage is a thing in the game, so he can be killed. his regen is only out of combat, so he will die, and you can bring ignite for grievous wounds anyway (and there's a new executioner's calling).

Judging by your summoner icon, you are not new to this game... So, i assume, you do remember his old stats.... 345 ms, 35% MS boost on Q for 4.5 seconds and 2.5 seconds silence. W gave him 20% bonus arnor and mr and on activation, 30% tenacity and 30% damage recuction for 6 seconds. His E had good base damage and scalings at ALL stages of the game, not just after lvl10. Canceling judgement didn't refund the remaining cooldown. Justice was as it is now and he didn't have the vilain effect. Back then, you maxed E first, i don't know what people do now, i don't play garen anymore, i stopped after his rework, and you kept bashing your enemy all the time. You just Q'ed on them and started spinning. Also, you were slowed when traveling through minions. After leveling your Q again at lvl 7, the silence went up. It kept going up. So, i remember a time, jumping on one poor vayne with q+flash, she was silenced for 2.5 seconds, i had ignite on her, and took away 60% of her hp while there was nothing shecould hope to do about it. After the silence ended, she tried to tumble, but i still had the MS boost from my Q, it lasted for 4.5 seconds back then, so, after my E stopped, i just ulted her and my job was done.... So, do you actualy believe that garen now is so hard to deal with??? with just 1.5 sec silence, 30% ms boost for just 2.5 seconds and less base ms? also, no tenacity in W and less defensive stats late game. If you can't deal with him now, what were you doing before the rework? Ragequit?
