Shutdown Gold Mechanic Broken?

Was there a change to the Shutdown gold mechanic? Yesterday, I won 11 games in a row, and many of those games being huge comebacks. 3 of those 11 games we were down a massive 7k+ gold at 17-18 minutes and ended up winning the game.

Then, my last game of the day. Literally someone picked Master Yi, built 5 doran blades and ran it down intentionally, but said it wasn't intentional, he was just abusing the shutdown mechanic. He was able to convince his teammates this was a bona fide strat in solo que. His teammates ended up getting massive shutdowns, and we were only getting 150 gold for killing that Yi, and then subsequently giving up 700 gold shutdowns. I think part of the issue is we thought he was trolling so we kind of let down our guard a bit in fairness. Where if we knew what he was doing and made sure to group and end quickly with our lead, it could have been beaten. Either way, they were able to come back and win because all of a sudden the other 4 players on the team were way ahead, and yi just split pushed back into the game (kinda, it was more about the lead of his teammates).

That got me to thinking, after my first 11 wins featured multiple massive comebacks, and then this guy somehow convincing his team that it was coordinated inting. Is this something riot should look at, or has anyone else seen this issues with the shutdown mechanic? Even my first game this morning we were down 11-17 and won. See attached for the one game I lost for the coordinated int game.

Shutdown gold mechanic is made so people are able to make a comeback if someone on the enemy team with 700-1000G. Before you got punished from this mechanic if you farmed better than the other laner, resulting in facing a karma or viktor(tank) top with support item that didnt farm at all and relied on the supp item for gold income and abusing the sht of the shutdown gold which prob was one of worst meta in the games history. Proxy Singed was even a problem in season 3 because of how he could be worth less than a minion and still created so much pressure on the entire map so the jungler had to stop him, it doesn't work that well anymore thank god, Either way, if this mechanic is abused again. they need to nerf it or remove it

It's theoretically abusable, but it requires the enemy team not capitalizing on the fact that they're fed as fuck, meaning it's only really abusable in low elo and only occasionally.

The way to get around that "abuse" is to murder him more and not take 1 for 1 trades. It'll never get the enemy team more gold than you get for kills, so that's not a worry either.

The rate at which the value of a bounty increases is less than the rate at which the difference in gold increases (and then there are all of the other benefits of having people live over people dying). In other words, no, there is no such thing as abusing a the bounty system.

Something that could potentially happen is a comp, built around protecting one person, dying multiple and letting that person collect the bounties. While the enemy team would still get more gold, that one person would get more important gold. This, however, is not an issue and never has been. It likely will never be, though one would be remiss to assume Riot's actions will never lead to such a result.
