Best Champion to Toss as Kalista

So, who do you think would be the best champion to toss into the fray as Kalista? I wonder if it would be possible for a champion like Nunu to start his ult, and then get tossed just before he finishes it.

I think Galio gets the most benefit from being tossed. The effect of his ult is actually better than Malphite 's, but he has a hard time getting into the team to use it.

Braum because he lacks an offensive gapcloser which would allow him to lock out of position targets, while he posseses tools to get out when things get too hot you basicaly remove something he lacks whiech allows him to position for perfect ults

I think the best candidates for the best champs for Kalista to throw would have to want to be in the middle of an enemy team. This leaves out a lot of ranged champions, including a lot of supports, long-mid range mages, some short ranged mages, and every other ADC barring maybe Graves.

Next, the champ thrown would need to not have a gapcloser because their kits are balanced around not having one, and have kits that are more impactful when they get into melee range. This leaves out assassins, a lot of bruisers, and some tanks.

Finally, the champ would need to make for a good support because Kalista cannot really function in the bot lane without her oathsworn ally, and needless to say, the support is the one that Kalista would lane with. This leaves out a lot more bruisers.

This basically leaves DrMundo Galio Gangplank Kennen Karthus Nunu Rammus Singed Garen Skarner Swainand Volibear

Narrowing this list down a bit to those who have short-range high-imact AoE initiation ultimates or high-damage AoE ultimates, we have a list of: Galio Karthus Kennen Nunu and Swain

We can further narrow this list down a bit further by accounting for their supporting capabilites:

Galio has a slow, speed boost, an ally-targetted defensive steroid, and a huge lockdown ultimate after level 6. That's pretty solid.

Karthus has a slow/mr reduction and some poke with Lay Waste. It could work, but would most likely not be the greatest.

Kennen has some pretty strong poke and a stun. The stun may be slow to land, but being manaless with his poke would give him an edge over a lot of supports.

Nunu has an AS steroid and attack speed slows. Pretty respectable supportive capabilities.

Swain has a slow and a root. However, Swain's lack of range would make him vulnerable to other supports, and leaves him open to harass from other supports.

This leaves Galio Kennen and Nunu as the best options.

However, Nunu's ultimate is a lot stronger when using it to create a zone of pressure, and therefore would not be so good if Kalista threw him into the enemy team, and Kennen's ultimate takes a little bit longer to use, and he needs to be able to survive long enough to stay into the middle of the enemy team, which he may not be able to do consistently, while Galio's ultimate has the most immediate effects, including massive AoE crowd control.

Therefore, I believe that Galio is the best champion for Kalista to throw, based on a wide array of factors including the synergy between the two, the supportive capabilities of the soulbound champion, and the abilities of the champion without Kalista throwing him.

An Ori-balled Zac or Wukong. The wombo

Considering who she'll most likely be playing with in lane or who will be near her in the jungle, I can foresee Taric being fairly decent for getting thrown in to AoE shred and Ult; I can also see the above mentioned Alistar, Leona, and Amumu, as well as Blitzcrank for electroshock goodness, along with Diana, Hecarim, and Maokai. If I'm not mistaken, her ult puts the pitched character at their maximum range when they rebound; if this is the case, allies like Nami and Annie could be devastating to land their own massive CC once they finish with Kalista's ult.

I would have to say Alistar. Being able to reposition their team in a team fight is crucial. Having Alistar thrown into a fight is one knockup, he can then knock them up a second time as well as headbutting their carry out of position. I'd say this CC-Combo would make for easy pickings during a team fight.

mordekaiser

he'd get so much damage and sustain if he was in the middle of their team lol

LuckyReden11/14/2014, 9:56:56 PM1 votes

I would say Thresh, Alistar, or maybe even Yasuo, the wombo's

As for people saying to use Ult as Nunu and then throw, does that work? Cuz doesn't nunu need to be the one to throw himself? So how could he do that during ult channel?

Bears Dont Care11/15/2014, 1:20:15 AM1 votes

Braum if support. Amumu if jungler.

JustMyBassCannon11/15/2014, 6:55:52 AM1 votes

Any champion with a large (possibly self-centered) AoE spell could do well. Although I'd have to say Fiddlesticks is a bit iffy; either he'd have to channel his ultimate after the jump (leaving him vulnerable) or before the jump (costing at least a second's worth of damage).

Galio, Wukong and Amumu are the first not-Leona choices that came to mind.

Grand Eleven11/15/2014, 7:37:53 AM1 votes

Thresh because lantern interactions could have potential ....

Smoooore11/15/2014, 8:43:27 AM1 votes

She could soul-bind Skarner, and teleport him to her every time he ults an enemy. She'll bring them both to her, and get a free kill.

EmpireEmadika11/14/2014, 4:47:29 PM1 votes

Braum, have him jump into it, throw up his shield, then pop his ulty

Onegarion11/15/2014, 9:55:20 PM1 votes

I'm thinking Alistar or Leona as supports are probably the best.

Really any melee Jungler.

ValyrianBlade11/14/2014, 4:48:07 PM1 votes

I think only ultimates that can continue through zhonya's would do so with the kalista ult as both make you untargetable. Can nunu start his ult then activate zhonya's?

As for the best, I think alistar would do very well. Instead of needing to w-q to initiate and get only 1 cc in place, the ultimate provides its own dash and knockup (I.e. It's an alistar w-q combo on its own) and then alistar can aoe cc with his q once there, then walk around the cc'd adc and headbutt them out to the rest of his team. If the team is grouped I think you'd manage 4 seconds of cc on the entire team followed by the adc being disabled for more time while being pushed to the front line. That alone should win the teamfight regardless of how far behind you are...

If thresh's Lantern persists, it might work well too, to allow an assassin to dive the adc without using their own mobility to get in meaning they can use it to get out (while thresh's box slows the enemy plus cc on flay).

Worgslarg11/14/2014, 5:06:39 PM1 votes

Ulting fiddlesticks.

Mayor Stubbs11/14/2014, 5:16:06 PM1 votes

I think the best one realistically would be leona, there are some that have potential to be better but takes too much coordination if you aren't doing ranked 5's

ZeroAnarchy11/14/2014, 5:25:40 PM1 votes

Maybe Alistar? Double knockup would be scary O_O. Thresh too with the box and flay.

TeemoHunter133711/14/2014, 5:32:50 PM1 votes

alistar, braum, leona, mega gnar, amumu, and wukong.

edit: and dont forget the best champ for this. GALIO. imagine a galio who uses kalista ultie to knock them up. then use flash to get behind (or closer) to them and ultie. and ur team cleans up.

Junkο11/14/2014, 5:57:52 PM1 votes

Fiddlestick, Kennen, and others that have ultimates that work very well with Zhonyas. Also Alistar, Braum and the like are very good too.
