LoL could learn something from Smite when it comes to reworks

When a champion in League is reworked, their old play-style is erased from the game completely. If you main a champion prior to their rework but don't like them after, you're forced to either play something else or quit the game. Personally I enjoyed old GP, old Graves, and old Shen in previous seasons. Ever since their reworks I have felt lost as to what I'm supposed to play. In Smite, they don't have this problem. When a character gets a significant rework, a "new" character is released with the pre-rework kit. This way old mains can still enjoy the character they like and those looking for something better fitting the current meta have the reworked character to experiment with.

Didn't they utterly change Kali so much that she doesn't even resemble her old character design and kit?

Then again with a lot of reworks, they utterly change them because what they were before was inherently flawed or broken or useless to such a degree that their identity couldn't be kept intact.
