I need help laning against Azir

I plan on maining Viktor mid this season, and I feel I have a pretty firm grasp of his mechanics and I have a gameplay pattern for my games that essentially boils down to "don't take risks, just farm farm farm and roam/get kills when the other guy messes up". As it stands I do pretty well against most of the people I lane against at the moment, not feeding or anything and still maintaining solid farm.

But Azir stands as a concrete wall before me most of the time. I well played Azir is an absolute nightmare to lane against for me. They can harass me far easier than I can harass them, even to the point where farming under turret can be dangerous if my health is low enough because of the range of his soldiers after he uses his Q. Ive tried various methods for dealing with this champion, such as extreme early aggression, which usually just results in me falling behind in cs with nothing to show for it, or passive farming that still usually results in falling behind in cs because its so easy for him to push me away from the wave.

I just cant seem to figure out a good strategy for dealing with Azir. In my most recent game against this champion I managed to get some kills elsewhere that got me fed, but even when I was fed and he was not it was still a real struggle to try and compete with the Azir.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well I'm not the highest elo player so I'm not sure how much help I can be, but in that situation I would recommend putting an extra point or two into your Q early to buff up your shield and help you in trades a bit, and maybe buy a little bit of early magic resist as well. It might even help to spend your first hexcore point on your Q for the extra movespeed so you can get out of his soldiers range a bit faster. It'll hurt your waveclear and damage a bit, but he'll lose out on 1-2 aa's with his soldiers if you can get your Q off fast enough. Hope that helps!
