Utility beats getting beat
I have noticed a growing trend within the game play of champs that have been coming out recently. That is utility over winning lane. Given, that just because you lose doesn't mean you should be knocked out of the game completely. As all the balancing of the map, champions, and items have lead us to. However, the growing trend of new champs vs old champs is like having Mayweather against Shane Mosley (which did happen. If you don't know about I suggest you look it up for my reference as it fits perfectly into what I am going into)
Now don't get me wrong I love the changes to the map and items among everything else. I also love how unique champs are becoming with the introduction of Rek, Ekko, Bard, etc... but I am not a fan of how some of them keep their late game going strictly off of kit alone and not because they fed but made up for it. Losing lane should be a punishment were you have to work harder to make plays, join team fights, farm fast, push harder using your skill and mechanics. You shouldn't be rewarded after losing lane because your kit promotes it and you can go in with one ulti (yasou) to make a game changing attack and then push for 2 or 3 towers.
Granted if your team is doing really well and you get that one ulti then yes I can understand that. But that is neither here or there, what I am saying is that a Yasou, Ekko, Gnar, Azir, etc lose lane and their team is either even or below average in the game. They should technically lose or at least be punished for the mistakes of said person, which would mean that they shouldn't just be able to spam everything they like they are Ryu going down, forward, punch in a desperate pinch trying to get in some cheap fire balls before the timer goes out. I feel like the utility is making these 'complex' champs super easy carries who punish others using kits instead of skill.
I know what people are going to say too "Well you have champs like Kat and Akali who come back after getting beat in lane." My rebuttal to that is simple, have you ever seen a shut down Kat or Akali? Because I have been on both ends super fed and super shut down. I also know what others may be thinking "Well laneing is only 15% of the game so losing it shouldn't lose you the game." This is very true, just because you lose in lane doesn't mean you shouldn't have some sort of come back potential. However, is you lose lane you should be punished and it should be even harder for you to do anything. Getting lucky with one ult doesn't mean you should be able to make a game changing play.
All I am saying is that Riot needs to tone down the utility craze that seems to be going on. First and foremost with Ekko, it just seems a bit ridiculous to have a slow that turns into a stun that also rewards the champ with a shield for simply stepping inside of it. A double dash that deals high damage along with great escape plus a 4th flash with his ulti that heals him for over 40%. (I am not hitting his attack numbers cause I think high damage is okay as long as it is not paired with such great utility)
TL;DR: Please stop with the huge amounts of utility + bursts. It just equals toxic kits and no one enjoys fighting against such things
