Kayle AP Support?

Do you think Kayle would be viable as an AP Support with heavy E harass?

I see most players play her as AP/AD Hybrid, which does decent damage, but I feel like she benefits more from going AP Support with optional attack speed thrown in for extra E damage.

Her E is good damage and poking, but I feel like the rest of her kit is almost entirely support. I used to go AP/AD/AS hybrid but AP Support seems more effective - I can get a bit of damage for E, Power to W and Q, and still get AP support items with some cooldown. I feel if I was better that this would be really viable in real games. If she gets items like Rylai's and Ardent Censor she can do medium damage to help the ADC while still getting in some decent W heal and Q slow.

If her R wasn't an Invulnerability shield and Q did more damage, I would feel better going AP/AD hybrid for damage, but with those in mind I feel she's slightly better at AP support with the right items.

I thought I'd add the ability list at level 1 and effects for further discussion:

  1. Passive: Holy Fervor: Attacking an enemy reduces their armor and magic resistance by 3% for 5 seconds, stacking up to 5 times (15% max)

  2. Q: Blast an enemy dealing 60 damage (+ AD/AP) and slowing the enemy for 35% for 3 seconds and adding a stack of Holy Fervor Base CD: 7.6s Mana: 70

  3. W: Heal an ally for 60 (+AP) and increasing their movement speed by 18% (+AP) for 3 seconds Base CD: 14.25s Mana: 60

  4. E: Increase attack range by 400 for 10 seconds and deals extra AP damage to the target. Also deals additional (AP/AD) damage to enemies around the target. Base CD: 15.2s Mana: 45

  5. R: Invulnerability shield on an ally for 2 seconds. Base CD: 95s Mana: 0

Kayle is a decent support. Her Q and E provide excellent harass and her W is pretty good for getting her carry out after a trade. A lot of her power is loaded into her R, though. 3 seconds of invulnerability at zero cost is a big deal. Unfortunately, in the present meta, the ability to sustain through an extended fight is more valuable. I've tried Kayle a few times and while her non-ulti tools are all solid, she ultimately has a hard time protecting her carry as much as you'd like her to.

If your going support kayle, you probably want lots of CDR and focus on preventing damage with your ult at critical moments. I had played Kayle support in the past and that's pretty much what I had to do. (it even has been used in the LCS in the past.)

the weird thing is, she has a support-y kit, but zero cc. so no, not viable. supports are not viable without cc.
