So, we have threads about how broke Riven is and others, but nothing about Garen?

Has anyone every stopped to think about Garen for a moment? I can safely look at Garen and say that it is the easiest champion in the entire game to play, yet people call him balanced?

Uses no resources....Like Riven, has a shit ton of damage scaling...Like Riven, but can also be tanky and still deal damage! He has a silence that also deals bonus damage and gives him move speed, an ability that increases all armor and magic resist by 20%, an AoE ability with can also crit by the way and a execute which deals MAGIC DAMAGE, granted not as strong as Rivens. Literally just walk in to lane with either a black cleaver or Sunfire cape and have some damage runes and you too can become a god at top lane as Garen.

Maybe theres something I'm missing here that makes Garen utter shit at top lane, but its not clear at first glance with a kit that allows him to contest a Riven just by pressing a button and clicking on the enemy. Sound like somebody before it was changed? Soraka (and if I recall Correctly, people hate the shit out of her because of that and it was RANGED! tl;dr Garen is like riven only better in some ways, build tank and still face roll and people call it balanced. Seriously, am I missing something? This also isn't even mentioning the other bonuses he gets from his Q and his other abilities.

This thread proves that people will bitch about anything and everything. Garen was not even viable 6 months ago.

Riven deals a lot more damage and has an AoE ultimate with a stat buff to it. Plus is overall more mobile. Garen counters Riven, but he isnt as scary since he is easier to escape unless he is really fed.

Don't forget his passive heals him. But also keep in mind that he has like the second lowest win rate of all champions.

Garen is not op by any means. Yes, he has easy to apply reliable damage but aside from that he has no gap closer. In teamfights theres nothing much he can do. The only thing he has going for him is his laning phase which is OK with the sustain but against a ranged matchup or some other like pantheon or yorick, he will get wrek8 really hard. Moreover he brings no hard CC (unless you count his silence) which gets him outclassed by other top laners. If you let snowball (10-1?) he will kill all ur squshy's but kinda useless if he falls behind. Late game if he builds damage he will get bursted before he can do anything, If he builds tank he will be a sitting duck. Especially in this tank meta where there are 100000 tanks to peel for the adc. Just because garen counters riven doesnt mean garen is better than riven.

The reason there are few threads that complain about Garen, I've seen a few mostly about his passive, but the reason there aren't many is that he is easy to deal with come late game. A smart player would know to fight him with ranged abilities and champions because he is very easy to kite. If you can keep him chasing you while you poke him down, wala hes dead or running away now. I'm not gonna lie hes very strong 1v1 which is why hes a tough champ to beat in toplane unless youre a ranged toplaner then hes easy picking and hes the one struggling, but in a melee vs melee he will likely win unless you have insane lifesteal and can heal up as youre bashing each others faces in. his lack of cc is basically what keeps him out of being a viable competetive pick and why no one really complains about him unless you main a squis=hy assassin that likes to dive at people then get silenced and die to his spin ult combo.
