Smiting Contested Mobs, esp. Dragon
So I've been jungling quite a bit lately and I've been in quite a few games against Lee Sin. Now Lee's Q does pretty massive damage. At times it seems to be almost equal to smite. I keep getting flack from my team about missing my smite when against him, but I don't understand how I'm supposed to do it.
This is how I see the problem. Lee can use His Q to bring the mob (READ: DRAGON) low enough to smite it for the kill. I don't have much in the way of burst, in order to counter this (even if I did it would still be a guessing game). So he can choose whenever he wants to Q and smite it immediately. I don't know when he's going to Q so it becomes a guessing game for me.
Is there a trick? It seems like even though I smite, his either lands 1st or mine lands too soon and his Q/Smite kills it. Can Lee smite while in mid-Q lunge?
Some things I've tried:
- I try to tell the support or tank to stand between the mob and lee so he jumps to them and not dragon, but they seem loathe to do this.
- I try to tell them to pull the dragon out, but I get comments like "no just smite". It makes sense to me if we just pull the dragon out too far, lee can't Q from over the wall and we can zone him if he comes around, but I don't have time to explain this in game and people won't just trust me and comply.
- If I say "no now's a bad time for dragon", even to the point of not coming and making it clear I won't participate the team "TRIES EVEN HARDER" and attempts to 4v5 dragon. This tactic is esp. bad because then my team won't trust me at all for the rest of the game :(
It's really really frustrating when I know dragon won't go well but my team won't listen, mostly because they need dragon RIGHT THIS INSTANT OR GG. None of these things are working, so is there another alternative?
