Anti-Zed Mid's

So I usually play Zed mid however sometimes the enemy will pick Zed. My go to champ used to be Talon for this however he just does not match up to Zed anymore. What are a list of mid's that do well vs Zed excluding Kayle and Lissandra?

Actually Talon still does pretty well against Zed, you just need to time your skills differently.

But i use Malzahar against Zed... If Zed ults you ult when he is done. If you are quick you can throw your W where he lands and ult immediately Ignite boom dead zed.

I've seen this match up over and over and without the silence Zed just reacts too quickly.

Ye Talon cant just inta-kill anymore at anytime, but if you time your abilities properly you will be able to kill him easily. Im not a Talon player but my friend mains Talon and in fact he does better after the nerf then before, because now you need to play extra careful and think a lot more without silence.

Try Malz though, when he ults just Q where he will land, they have roughly they same delay and it has a good sized hitbox. After you Q just throw W down and Ult, ignite if needed. If you are super quick you can throw a DFG before you Ult (it will cancel your ult if you DFG while ulting) I dont build DFG normally though.

Zilean, my good sir, Zilean.

His ult is a pain, and you force Zed to back every 2-3 waves.

I feel like Zilean's ult would only really work if it was procc'd at tower and Zed's harass could still punch through Zilean's..

Zed's harass is entirely from skillshots, whereas zilean's is from a point and click, unavoidable, nuke.

If you can dodge on zed's shurikens, you should be able to force him out of lane.

Master Yi.

...I can back it up.

The floor is yours xD

Master Yi's Q+W can negate a large portion of Zed's burst damage, even going as far as to completely negate Zed's ult if your timing is good.

Furthermore, Master Yi wins any DPS based slap fight with Zed thanks to Double-Strike and Wuju Style's passive. So long as you keep even, you can win most trades.

And finally, if Zed chooses not to fight at all due to Master Yi's burst negating and Master Yi's usually superior DPS, Master Yi's whole 'I'm the strongest of the melee carries and your anuses will remember this' schtick that all Master Yi's are known for will eventually mean that Master Yi out scales Zed even if they are even on farm.

Just so long as you know how to abuse Q's invincibility and W's damage resistance, Master Yi can outpace Zed in almost every scenario.

Just to prove that I do have experience with this.

Interesting, I'll have to try it. Do you usually rush more damage or attack speed on a mid yi?

Infinity Edge Rush, then these items:

item 3153 - Dueling sustain Item item 3072 - Defensive sustain item item 3142 - Low Armor Targets item 3046 - Hypercarry/Teamfighting item item 3035 - High Armor Targets item 3041 - I'm drunk

Along with boots, I buy each of them depending on the enemy team and the situation on hand. I like to rush Infinity Edge because its higher AD ratio complements my play style (I wait for my opponent to burn an ability on a minion or try to hit me with a skillshot, then immediately Alpha Strike onto them to dodge the skillshot and/or take advantage that the opponent has one less ability), so Youmuu's Rush could work if you think you're going to get into a lot of AA slap fights.

Sona; I've never lost lane against a Zed, even if their jungler camps (just ward more).

Early on just use your Q's and powerchord to widdle away at him and force him to back; as long as you dodge his Q you shouldn't use up much mana if you don't use W much.

If he ults you, especially under tower, just ult behind yourself and chunk him.

Usually I'll try to rush hourglass but if you get really ahead I get an early sheen.

I would say try a bruiser. Zed will win lane vs just about any mage or assassin

I usually have good results with velkoz. He's pretty easy to read so landing combos isnt hard. Even more so when he ults you, he either has to sit in your combos/ult or ult back away.

I max W first against zed as velkoz for both keeping up with his wave-clear and harass when he goes to farm.

Granted velkoz is an immobile mage which he is meant to kill, i feel that velkoz early game is strong enough to handle zed

Pantheon could be good, although you might need to bring some mana pots. Your passive can stop zed's passive and reduce his ult damage on you, and you can use your w to catch up to his w.

Trundle.

Because there is no such thing as Trundle outright losing lane.
