Do You Think the Addition of Voice Chat in League Will Improve Gameplay or Worsen it?

These are just a few of my thoughts on the voice chat feature that HAS NOT COME OUT YET!

I feel as if the implementation of voice chat can go one of two ways. Good, or bad.

GOOD

Good in a way that if used correctly, the feature could help our lives in solo que feel a bit more team oriented like in the LCS. The large jump in communication will allow more people to get ideas across either without afk typing in a bush just for some hungry Rengar to jump out of a bush to kill you. It will also be much easier to coordinate plays and strategies so gameplay between players should see an improvement in speed plays and overall lower game times (maybe also player performance!), however gameplay times shouldn't be affected as much when it comes to a normal game because since both teams will have voice chat, defensive strategies will also work out. So I do think that game times will remain relatively the same.

BAD

Where do I even begin? Well, be ready for the giant surge of trolls and flamers because not only do you now have to see their toxic texts, but now you have to hear their toxic voices. Granted, you do have the ability to be able to mute texts and chat logs but if you need to report someone who is using voice chat, how do you report them for what they say verbally? one of my next points that I do not like with voice chat is the fact that Will Riot put in a new system to detect toxic behavior through our voice chat solo plays are a lot less rewarding and satisfying. I always went into solo q thinking that here's a chance to prove to myself to 4 random people that I have what it takes to climb the ranked ladder Yasuo .... but with voice chat, the game becomes even more team focused and that doing solo plays or individual performance now feels less rewarding since its easier to do things as a team now more than ever before. Also, one of my fears when it comes to the new feature is functionality and compaitibility with my pc. Granted, I do not have the best gaming setup or best internet. So one of my bigger concerns is if the new voice chat feature make my game or internet any more laggy? I'm afraid that due to my current situation that if Riot adds more and more features as such then my pc won;t be able to handle league in the future :(.

It's a waste of resources because it can only be used in parties and every actual party group has a voice chat they use.

I like to post my discord into the lobby before the game begins.

I have a few thoughts.

  1. It will help because it is for premades only who are less likely to flame one another, and they will have an easier time communicating with one another.

  2. It is too little too late, this should have been implemented before the community learned to distrust and hate one another.

  3. It will hurt because people who don't know each other but queue together will flame in voice instead of chat, making it harder to detect.

The first week toxicity will be reduced. After that the game will go back to how it is and then there will also be the new bonus of kids being toxic via voice chat.

The only effect it will have on me is... none. I don't play with a group, and most premades already used voice chat on discord or the like, so it's not like it's even giving them (another) edge on me that they didn't already have. So yeah... big freakin' whoop.

Given that premades already used voice chat programs, I can't imagine this new feature is changing much for them either.

We already use discord when playing with groups. It's the easiest voice chat solution of all time.

If this feature was in solo queue a lot of people would not enable it, making it pointless.

I don't see the point to this feature.

it wont change a thing. you cant invite randoms in champ select, so literally the only people who will be using it are the people whose computers are so god awful that they cant run both league and a voice chat client.. and the people who use it for the novelty ("whoa, voice chat in league")

Terrible idea, unless all future teams are composed of premades, and both of them are using voice chat.

The level of bad an in-game VC brings goes above and beyond any good it may possibly bring to the table sadly.

Considering it is only premades i don't see how it really affects the game that much as if your premade your either going to already be in voice chat or you have a good reason for not being in voice chat so you still won't be.
