Note : This IS a rant

Hey guys/grills/attack helicopters. So I was playing some normal draft Dynamic Queue by my self, and I kept getting put against really high elo people. Keep in mind that I'm only level 29, and some of these games happened when I lvl 28. The enemy team and my team was comprised of diamonds, plats, occasional Golds. At one point, I was even put with a Master Tier Shen support, he had the border and everything, and I'm like "uhh wtf? I'm only lvl 29 yo LOL "

Please fix your matchmaking, I'd rather not have to go against Diamonds and Platinums, and expect to perform highly as only a lvl 29 by my team. Some of these high elo people were actually really sympathetic and felt bad, calling Riot Lyte's system " Aids", and telling me " better luck next time" The people were nice and friendly, they were just really really good and I don't understand why someone who isn't even level 30 yet, much less ranked, has to go against high elo players.

If you don't believe me, check for yourself. Go on op.gg, search up my ign ( nocturnal negro), and check all the Sivir games in dynamic queue where I was learning adc and had to go against diamonds and sht.

Pls fix this Rito >.< [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Maybe you're better than you think you are and your MMR is actually that high? Lol

Nazzadan4/14/2016, 10:16:07 PM11 votes

Ok so the way the pre-30 MMR system works, especially in dynamic queue, is it tries to find other pre 30's around your level that have a similar MMR. After a while of not finding a match (my level 26 acct has queue times of about 45 minutes), it gives up and puts you against the post-30 equivalent of your MMR. Surprise surprise, that usually means high diamond. If you switch to blind pick it should be better, and as soon as you hit 30 your MMR will reset.

Chuck Charles4/14/2016, 8:08:04 PM9 votes

new players dont get it, but your MMR may or may not be inflated. as a new player the MMR is completely fresh so the game doesnt know if you are smurf or not.

if you duo with a few diamonds/plat even a few times and you guys happen to win those games the system will think you are a smurf and start pairing you accordingly.

i wouldn't worry too much about being paired against diamond's and plats in normals because your MMR will eventually normalize where it belongs. if you get rekt by diamonds/plats you will not keep playing diamond and plats.

Holy crap platinum almost every game. Feels bad man.

Melledoneus4/15/2016, 3:53:46 AM3 votes

There are Mastier tier Shen supports?

...I have found hope.

TurquoiseYoshi4/14/2016, 10:11:00 PM3 votes

Ranked and norms have completely separated MMR. I know many higher elo players who play off-meta/"troll"/practice picks in norms. So they might have a lower MMR because of that.

OK I AM SICK AND TIRED OF NOT BEING REPRESENTED BY PEOPLE WHEN THEY ADDRESS THE READERS! I AM A MEDICAL HELICOPTER AND I AM SO TIRED OF NOT BEING REPRESENTED IN THE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS BOARDS

/s

I hope this issue gets resolved, I would have been pissed if I got enemies or allies like that, because if your team is always carrying you you don't really feel the joy of contribution, you just feel like you're there. Good luck!

Drakylon4/14/2016, 10:11:47 PM2 votes

The issue is that normals and ranked have completely separate MMRs, so someone in Master tier in the ranked queue might have not played any games of normals after hitting 30, so their normals MMR might be really low.

Honestly I understand your frustration, when I made a second account, he got nothing but high plat / Diamonds when nearing 30 and when he hits 30 he got mostly Diamonds/masters, My own account is on Silver though, and when he finished placements he got placed Gold 3

Mandaari4/15/2016, 5:25:30 AM1 votes

I can understand how this happens to someone who's level 29, but I've seen way more extreme examples. I once played a game on a level 19 smurf against people in diamond. Ever try laning against someone in diamond when you have no runes? Not fun.

SeekerofSilence4/15/2016, 6:35:57 AM1 votes

Probably same thing that happened to me, I played to level 25 and after that my mmr was seemingly screwed... Got a master Rengo stomping us, fun times. x) My winratio for teambuilder (only mode I played back then) was above 75% so I guess that explains it...

Same shit going down on my smurf right now, it's hilarious. I haven't even won that much there due to me using the account for testing new champs.

General Esdeath 4/15/2016, 12:36:32 PM1 votes

Yeah this happened to me often too when I was leveling a second account

Dukues4/15/2016, 1:36:32 PM1 votes

Don't think I have ever played vs a master player. Kind of jealous............. That being said yea normal matchmaking is really messed up. Mine makes sense as I usually play vs gold-silver players but I am gold 5 and have like 1100 normal wins with a roughly 50% win rate. I have made alternate accounts however that like you described at level 28 or 29 is playing on average mostly plat to low gold players. its like "wtf yo don't even have all my runes yet!"

Hello I am Bird4/15/2016, 2:04:04 PM1 votes

Can't you not see the border of the enemy team...

Not that you aren't getting matched against these guys but I don't think you saw the enemy support's border.

Unless he was on your team, in which case I wouldn't complain :3

Fallen Leaves4/15/2016, 3:55:40 PM1 votes

Dynamic queue is only for ranked. Dynamic queue is not the same as new champ select. Other than that unless you were pre-made with people who were also high ranked I have no idea.

On the internet nobody knows you're secretly a bear.

DracosKasu4/15/2016, 6:02:43 PM1 votes

Playing vs harder player help you to improve overall, I don't mind it personnally. I don't try to hide behind a pillow when I fuck up, I try to accept my defeat and learn something from it.

In normal it happen a lot because Master/Challenge/Diamond probally try to play with their friend.

Stained Spear4/15/2016, 8:29:51 PM1 votes

yeah lol i play with bronze scrubs on my main then on my smurf i play with diamonds evrey game lmfao

Divine Hymn4/16/2016, 4:44:45 AM1 votes

Something similar happened to me on my other account. It's pretty funny, because this account is solidly stuck in silver 3ish, where my other account I main the same champion and fare perfectly well with and against plats. In many cases, those games are actually easier because my team makes sense. I don't have to waste all my ults and skills peeling for out of position people; I can focus on making plays. Guess that's why support isn't people's first pick for climbing out of silver.

Tengrichan4/16/2016, 9:53:28 AM1 votes

You should be happy to play with them.

ARoninInDisgrace4/14/2016, 7:52:50 PM1 votes

Best solution I can give (and I cringe to say it) is to go lose a bunch of games to get your ELO down. I say that only because that's the only way you as a player can rebalance where you're at. And the only other alternative to simply trying really really hard and rising to their level. Hell take it as that kind of challenge. Imho

Owltears4/14/2016, 8:10:22 PM1 votes

I've had a similar issue that keeps happening where I am unranked (And don't wanna BE in ranked) and keep getting matched with gold-diamond+ and once even had a Plat player mock the ENTIRE team because (s)he was "higher" ranked then us, a mainly 2 unranked 1 silver and 1 gold (I think). I don't see why they get added into the game if most of the players are below gold or not even ranked (but then again I'm not good with MMR so i don't know much about it)

Helmight4/14/2016, 9:37:21 PM1 votes

Just the other night I ended up against a level 16 Morgana in the midlane. Needless to say, things did not go well for her. Her team in general had a fairly low MMR, just looking at the amount of normal wins they have, so I'm assuming that DynaQueue messed up somewhere along the line. Guess Riot's still working out the kinks.

Steel Blossom4/15/2016, 12:53:27 AM1 votes

When I was about to reach level thirty on this acc, I'm with and against diamonds every single game. I've seen a handful of masters and two or three challengers; I distinctly remember one of them getting a 1v3 triple kill in top lane as Tahm Kench, and feeling that I could go afk for some Starbucks and come back 20 mins later to say GG.

The 99th Problem4/15/2016, 2:48:15 AM1 votes

Same exact thing that happened to me when I was just starting this game. My guess is your normals elo is still being established. You may have won too many games starting off, as did I, and now you're elo is excessively high.

Don't worry though, after you lose to smurfs and diamond duo queues enough it'll balance.

Carpe Victoria4/15/2016, 3:01:26 AM1 votes

I think your MMR got inflated because you've had some strange luck with being paired with premade groups of high elo players playing along with low level players.

The matchmaking system is really bad at filling teams when theres a group of like 2 diamonds, and 2 level 25's in one premade. The 5th random person ends up being a low level match a lot of times.

Dealth4/15/2016, 3:04:43 AM1 votes

If you win a lot of games it probably thinks you are diamond. Also keep in mind that ranked and normal mmr is separate, so if someone started playing ranked when they hit level 30 and then got to diamond, they still have the normal mmr of a level 29 player (since when they hit 30 they started ranked).

Reaper Soraka4/15/2016, 3:23:57 AM1 votes

I think those games are like gifts to us newbies. I get the occasional diamond and master player on or against me, and I learn a lot more from them than I do an equal-level player from gold/silver. I don't see too much difference from a low diamond player than I do in gold, but masters is faaaaar above us.

A Kalista a month back or so taught me I can't poke her as a squishy support if she's good. She can chase and poke back just fine with her passive and rend; She was masters. In short, I learned in a serious setting while I'm climbing the ladder, that I cannot out-trade a Kalista. I can go all-in or I need a stun after my poke to keep her from winning a trade.
