Weird Aery/Comet interactions with Darius/Teemo

So the meat of this is as follows: Darius Bleed and Teemo Poison both historically have counted as not-abilities, for the sake of Rylais, Ludens, etc etc.

Comet I'm considering a sort of "control" because it, correctly, interacts with neither of these.

And yet Aery, while not proccing on Darius bleed, will proc on Teemo poison, nearly guaranteeing a single auto will activate it twice, while Darius gets one from the auto itself, and then Aery ignores the bleed and doesn't re-proc.

What's going on here Riot? Why is Teemo suddenly an exception with a single thing? I tested and his poison still doesn't proc rylai/ludens, so it's not like you changed its interactions. You'd think that the two would have the same interaction with Aery and yet they don't.

EDIT: Had a friend give it a shot with Twitch, and from what he says Aery does not proc on Twitch's poison either.

Update: Further testing shows Fizz's passive W damage (which also has no rylai/luden/comet/etc interaction) also interacts with Aery. Why is this one keystone so weird?

Teemo's damage is magic damage while Twitch's damage is true damage, maybe? (It doesn't proc with Velkoz's true damage incidentally, but it does on Vel's simple pokes.)

They have flags in their code on abilities and things that deal damage which determines what interactions there are, so in most cases it doesn't matter what the damage type is, if it's applied by a basic attack, or an active ability, an item, or whatever. The interactions are completely arbitrary.

For most of the history of the game the only flags that mattered were the ones that marked things as spell hits, and the flags that marked things as basic attack hits, and whether or not they can crit. Now it seems that Aery looks at other flags that I don't know about. Obviously I've never seen their code, I've only learned things by talking to Rioters in the past and experimenting.

So my guess is that Teemo's E is simply flagged differently than Darius' passive. In the past this difference didn't matter because it's not a spell hit flag. It's something else that previously had no interactions.
