I feel like Yasuo and Trynd are why Crit can never be balanced.

There are a lotta good ways we could probably make Crit more interesting and I always think one is to make it the identity of Marksmen as a whole. My leading best idea to balance crit is make all the crit items (or at least Zeal) into "Ranged only" much like some items are melee only (and some are just better as a melee champ) There are other options too. Increase the dmg but lower the crit chance (requires you to fill your inventory with all crit items or risk RNG bad luck streaks) or the opposite raising the chance but lowering dmg (forces you to judge game by game if you need more "chance" or more burst right now) and I cbet way better and smarter people have more ideas than that.

However every single time I think of something, I remember these 2 champs and it would be busted af. Tryndamere needs a rework sometime as is so i'll leave his issues alone, but Yasuo I dont even see why he has that dumb crit thing on his passive. A walking shield thats stronger and faster as the game goes on seems like more than enough for a guy who's only gameplay is "proc Q's and build passive > dash > tornado > Ult if up > dash out > windwall if necessary > Repeat when passive up" He should honestly just be tuned to be a more nimble sort of juggernaut. I know that sounds scary but that could be his niche rather than "the better one of two melee champs where an IE is your first buy always", and it is gonna do a lot more good for crit in the long run without worrying about them breaking everything.

Just a thought, i'm ready for the downvotes.

There are other melee champs who build critical strike or have scalings using it as well.

Gangplank Shaco MasterYi Garen

Those are niche builds, 2 of which are laughable in actual gameplay.

I meant champs with crit literally built into how to play them. Trynds and Yasuos passive make any non-crit builds as laughable as doing crit on these champs. (well maybe not but you are basically neglecting 25% of your champ)

EDIT: if anything you gave me an idea: Yi deserves the crit passive of Yasuo more than he does. A Master swordsman trained in a magical sword art could prolly crit you easily.

Which ones are laughable exactly? They all handle crit pretty darn well.

probably shaco and garen. shaco builds lethality and garen builds juggernaut or lethality

Yasuo needs that crit chance, or else you'd get a more mobile version of Irelia/Fiora. Because of his low base damage and over-reliance on crit to pump up his damage, he can't afford to build item 3078 as his first item and still be ok. Remember Frozen Force Yasuo as made famous by ArKaData back in Season 6? I don't want to face any kind of iteration of that monstrosity.

Yasuo was meant to be designed as a melee ADC, wanting items like PD & IE over things like Black Cleaver, Sterak's and even Titanic/Ravenous, which are built by the likes of Riven and Fiora.

He's also not like Trynd who can instantly win duels by just right-clicking (and pressing R if need be). His low base stats and conditionally reliable safety mechanics make it so that he has to use the tools in his kit to survive the situation he is in, not unlike the former who can just get up in your face w/o any regard of safety.

Add into that Yasuo has to build his critical strike chance still. (Max 50% free crit chance, with a -10% crit damage debuff) And that is his ONLY steroid til 6, and then the armor pen only applies on critical strikes.

Tryndamere has his crit available at level 1 (+35% free crit chance) without any purchase. This comes with NO crit damage penalty, and when he takes Q, he also gets bonus AD as he loses health. And as if that wasnt enough, he gets to lower YOUR AD while fighting you, slowing you if you were running.

Why do people complain about Yasuo getting a whole 15% more free crit than Tryndamere??

Because people don't understand that all melee carries have some kind of steroid, and crit is yasuo's

in comparison, yi has a whole lot of steroids lol

The only way to balance crit is to lower base crit damage. You can nerf crit items all you want, but when every crit by any champion is always guaranteed to do 200 to 250% dmg (250% is if you have an IE) it does not matter how you balance it. You only need 1% to crit, and as long as you can auto you can crit.

Balancing 2 champions are not terribly difficult if crit changes were made. If you believe there is an issue with crit then its not because of two champions you can change with crit.

Sure, Yasuo is kind of annoying, but he has to build IE to get full damage off his crits. I'm honestly surprised that you didn't pick Jhin as an example, because Jhin not only gets free crits on every fourth auto, but crit chance also applies to the other attacks, and gives you extra AD????

Seriously, in the past, he's been able to crit someone for literally all their HP - not this kinda-sorta, one-combo kill nonsense. I'm talking, Cho'Gath with a full HP build and a Gargoyle's Stoneplate one-shot.

Jhin item 3070

I mean, that's kind of his thing. He has a set attack speed, but in exchange does more damage per auto attack. If he's to the point of where he can waltz up to squishes during teamfights, the frontline is either dead, failing to do their job, or the carry has been caught massively out of position by CC.
