Any Chance Azir Could get More, Much Needed, Buffs?

Azir was recently buffed, cheers for the emperor!

However, going by just about any win rate you find anywhere he's still in a terrible spot. I know win rate isn't a great metric but most would agree extremes are bad. 60% is too high. 40% is too low. On most charts Azir sits between 42% and 44%. He can stand to get some buffs or rebalancings.

Here are some ideas.


Passive - Shurima's Legacy

Totally Consenting Laborers: 5 seconds > 3 seconds

I’d love to see the change Riot was already toying with pushed through. Adds power to one of the most unique things about Azir.

W - Arise!

Sharper Sticks: Level 1 through 6 unchanged

Sharper Sticks: Level 7 through 10 63/66/70/80 > 70/75/80/85

Sharper Sticks: Level 11 through 18 unchanged

Shuriman Weightlifting: +0.6 AP > +0.7 AP

This would keep his pre-6 power in check while making his mid and late game much stronger.

He’s still extremely weak by most metrics. If his early game is going to remain weak, shouldn’t he be compensated in some other way? He is a Mage/Marksman and needs to do hyper-carry late game damage. He's serviceable now but doesn't put out the damage of other mages and takes a considerable amount of skill on the players part to put out a decent amount of damage.

The Rylia’s changes made his zoning and damage weaker. His core build lost ability power and a powerful slow that kept enemies in his zones and taking another auto attack. This would buff his late game damage to compensate for the AP loss and auto attack opportunity.

Pre 6.24

At level 18 Azir did roughly 560 damage with a full build from one soldier .

Post 6.24

At level 18 Azir does roughly 540 damage from one soldier. However, he loses an opportunity to attack in some instances because enemies can walk away from soldiers easier.

Proposed Buff

At level 18 Azir would do roughly 600 damage from one soldier.

Other option

Make it +0.65 AP and it'd do roughly 570 buffed.

Tangential Thought

Make Rylai's 80 AP please. 75 is such an odd landing spot considering all other items in that price, functionality, and damage range.

E - Shifting Sands

Shield: Removed

Axe the shield entirely. It's the last ability Azir maxes. It was bugged for ages by not properly scaling. Now they’ve removed the scaling. Put the nail in the coffin and remove the shield. Make his E about repositioning.

R - Emperor's Divide

Base Damage: 150/225/300 > 150/250/350

Stalwart Bulwark: 3 seconds > 3/4/5

Azir should be one of the best zoning mids in the game. Needs increased ult duration to do it. Still two seconds weaker than previous iterations.


I'd love to see these changes.

It's hard to balance him also with the change in rylais he was hit hard much like sol. But I post crap about varus coming from a good spot to being inadvertently nerfed thanks to fervor and lethality.
