Hello, I love Runes Reforged. Although mages seem to be taking Aery more often than not.
I believe that a lot of mages and their players might be scared away by Comet striking the opponents position when they were hit. This makes it really good on champions with slows, roots, stuns, and knock-ups but awkward to champions like Taliyah.
Why doesn't the Comet attack your target instead of the ground?
Although in general Taliyah feels out in the cold.
It's fine the way it is. Aerys damage is weak but reliable. Comets damage is higher but not as reliable as Aery.
Probably to offer counterplay. As fun as good old thunderlords degree was to use, it not fun to be on the receiving end of it, especially for teammates due to the area damage. Then again we now have Electrocute, so who knows
Or maybe its just a cosmetic thing. Riot sees the popularity of thunderlords degree and thinks; hot damn this is working gangbusters lets test some more of this shit, quick, what else can we throw at people? Cats and comets awe yeah. (I don't fucking know man XD)
comet is pretty much useless except on lux and other heavy-slow/stun mages
