Can someone explain to me why Caitlyn is a good champ and Not a sack of BS?

I personally don't like Caitlyn. I think she's unbalanced asf to be honest. To have one of the longest auto attack ranges in game paired with a passive that causes most of her spells to apply a crit seems a bit unfair. To walk into lane and see traps spewed out every where in the lane and if you try and get rid of them when she's out of lane and you see her bullshit passive show up and you get crit from a mile away is stupid. I think she's a low risk adc who's been beefed up to be even more of a low risk adc with an even higher pay off. But hey I'm just a B5. Please explain to me why I'm bad and why Caitlyn is actually a great adc and isn't the broken sack of buttcheeks she is.

First off: Her spells cannot crit. Her passive doesn't cause her spells to do that at all. Only her basic attacks can crit.

Headshot

Innate: Caitlyn's next basic attack against enemies rooted by Yordle Snap Trap or slowed by 90 Caliber Net gains an additional 650 range and deals 50% + (critical chance × (1 + 0.5 × bonus critical damage))% AD bonus physical damage, modified to 150% AD versus non-champions.

Additionally, Caitlyn permanently has 10% bonus attack speed and her unenhanced basic attacks each generate a stack of Headshot, doubled when attacking from brush, granting her next basic attack the same bonus damage at 6 stacks, though this does not benefit from bonus range, nor is it consumed on other instances of Headshot.

that's what Op meant (sort off).

I'm not even sure what OP is trying to get here. Hopefully someone more knowledagle can swing by and help them out. I'm still a somewhat newer player. I've only been playing for a year now. So I know I don't know everything there is at any given time.

Oh no no you misunderstand. Her spells ALLOW her to get a crit in. Say step in a trap

Thats what confused me. Her spell itself doesn't crit though. Yes it lets her get a crit, but you have to be fast enough to click them to get the Headshot off.

lol said fast enough to click them

Well, no. She is low risk ADC, but her rework only lowered the reward - her base AS is absurdly low, meaning her DPS output with just basic attacks is terrible for a marksman. Headshots deal a lot of damage, but that's basically all she has, and you can easily avoid most of them (traps are visible, and net is easy to dodge).

the AS on her passive puts her on par with other marksman, so that's not really an issue. Her headshots also allows her to still be reliable in the late game. In fact, she has allways been a top tier (among the 4-5 best adc in the game) since her release. In my opinion Cait s just booooooring to play AND play against... Safest laning phase with good mid game thanks to traps and range and great lategame thanks to headshot. She doens't really excel at anything but also she doens't realy "fail" at anything as well. She's just that: boring...

Cait's passive grants her 10% bonus attack speed, that means about 0,06 AS (when rounded up). A simple dagger on Ashe grants her 0,08 AS.

This bit of bonus AS is meaningless when it comes to DPS output, it's only purpose is making last hitting on early levels a bit easier.
