When is this horrible tank meta gonna end....

I don't understand how people hated the previous meta. I hated season 2 because of games revolving around who had the most tanks.

Before the tank meta, we had a meta that encouraged people to take risks and make awesome plays. This tank meta just encourages cautious play. I'm not talking about LCS crap, which I could care less about. I'm referring to games I experienced in normals/ranked.

Before this tank meta became effective, I would see a comp composed of 2 sub-tanks, one in the jungle and one in top lane. Sometimes you would have a full tank top or jungle (malphite/cho). The rest of the team consisted of an ADC/Support and mid that was either an AP or AD assassin.

You know what my games look like now? 3 tanks (off-tank support) sometimes 4 (urgot), 1 High DPS Mid Mage and of course the one role that will never disappear (adc).

I believe the main reason the meta changes were made were because people were complaining that not enough tanks made it to the LCS. That tanks were being outshined by Jarvan/Lee Sin,/RekSai/Vi. Now what does the LCS look like? Sejuani/Gragas/Reksai are the only ones that see play.

No matter how many changes you make to the game, you will always circle around to this stupid scenario where only a handful make it to the game, and to be honest, I'd rather have to outplay the former than to be forced to build tank or lose to the latter.

I know this post will probably achieve nothing, but my gaming experience went down in the first wet noodle season 2, and its going down again. Unfortunately I'm not the only one that feels this way. I can name a few summoners that hate this as well, Javiek, Jazy, Sery, crossfalzar, and me. Sery quit along with another group of friends, and unless something changes, I may follow suit.

To those of you that love this meta, feel free to enlighten me, I just cant see how this meta is fun for you.

Edit: I chose a poor title to start a good discussion, but I was a little salty because I had just played a game where I was winning top and the opposing player immediately rushed a Thornmail, and at that point, he won the lane by simply building that one item. Our team had 1 tank and the enemy team had 3. We aced them on one occasion, but since our AP was a Katarina, in addition to the tanks massive cc, the majority of the enemy team built 1 MR item and that nearly nullified Kat. On the other end of the spectrum, the enemy team had around 2-3 armor items per tank and that nullified our ad carries. We managed to kill their carries, but by attacking the tanks, our carries were killing themselves and we were outlived in team fights. That was a very frustrating experience that I have dealt with a large number of times since tank champs got buffed and cinderhulk was introduced.

so you liked the zed and lb days where they would 100-0 your adc and escape before you could pop heal? What a time to live in where you have to actually position correctly

Lol @ "Take Risks and make awesome plays"

It's neither awesome nor 'plays' when I just pick a high damage champion, mindlessly stack damage items, then mash off 1 spell rotation on whoever happens to be closest to me as fast as I can before I die in every 'teamfight'

Damage meta reduced the amount of teamwork or coordination or skill required to carry in this game, and now that Tanks are relevant again a lot of players are having trouble adapting to an actual teamwork based environment.

Actually the fact that we even call it "tank META" is disappointing to me - it should just be called standard gameplay.

You know, we have multiple legitimate ways of shredding tanks. Jayce Urgot Vayne KogMaw Brand Cassiopeia - There is also a ton of tier 2 tank busters, or champs that excell in fights taht last a long time. summoner 14 item 3153 item 3151 item 3071 item 3134

The tank meta will end when people like you stop bitching and start beating them in games. Then they will give up on it and look for something else.

The problem is YOU pick the wrong champion to fight them. People in solo Q pick whatever they like even if they know they may have problems against tanks. Lime for example when our team has no tank they enemy has 2 and our last pick jungler goes shaco. Learn to play what you MUST not what you LIKE or what you FEEL like playing. Then you may beat them.

Assassins run behind the tanks and pop the carries. I do that just fine. the tricky bit is you have to play an escape route ahead of time because the CC will come to get you.

I have played long enough to live through many metas.. don't worry.. it is constantly shifting your time will come again.

I no longer understand the word meta. I always replace it "optimal set" Now people realize that having tanks is optimal.

I'm starting to not like the tank meta for one reason. Lack of diversity in the builds to maintain the effectiveness of your champion.

Because of the tank meta, ADCs are being forced to rush a bork, or LW as their first or second item (Not counting Vayne who always rushes a bork) causing BT and Essence reaver (yes it exists still) to fall below the wayside.

Also, The claim of Diversity is partially true. Yes, we are seeing a lot more champions in different roles, but in LCS play, it's always the same type of champions on each of the winning sides IE: Tank Top, Tank Jungle, AP Mid, ADC, Tank or Stunlocking support. I would like to see a match where bruisers, Off meta choices, and other combinations do well.

I'm hoping that they will continue the shift towards the bruisers as well as the AP bruisers (with the new Abyssal scepter coming soon) as tanks are starting to become a boring playstyle to play as well as play against.. It's always the same champions..

Tank meta literally brought more diversity than the assassin mobility meta could ever bring. Yes, I remember: getting reported if you didn't pick the five viable mobile junglers or the five viable mobile mid laners. Not to mention immobile ADCs were completely banished from the game unless they were troll picks. Top lane was nothing but ranged mages that couldn't compete against manaless assassins that outclassed them in every way, and teamfights were all about whose damage dealer was more fed, not about who was focused.

Now, we can have immobile champions back in the table, with tanks good enough to peel for them, I can actually play a viable tank that isn't a support, and, with this much CC, Veigar almost feels like a decent pick. "Play maker" mains are just angry because your champions now need to position correctly before 100-0'ing the enemy Ashe, and now you have risks when you go in with a hyper mobile champion.

A world where assassins cant assassinate.

I can't wait for it to end. This meta is garbage. I haven't played ranked for months because of how stupid it is.

I'm sorry you do not want to build armor/magic penetration items on your assassins and do not understand assassins are opportunistic killers, meaning you don't just dive in 1v5 kill your target then dip out. A GOOD assassin player is chilling off to the side hiding in a bush separated from his team waiting for the enemy tanks to engage on what they think is a 4v5. Once they blow their CC the assassin dives unto the adc/apc and presses the delete button. Then you're supposed to dipset out, and wait for another opportunity to jump in.

You're unable to adjust because you're used to standing behind your 1 tank and then diving in once someone, ANYONE, engages and you have free pass to delete a carry since there isn't enough cc to lock you up. Fix your play and you'll realize this meta is actually extremely healthy for the game. It introduces strategy, gives variety on how to play certain champs (no longer have assassins playing like they're mages), and forces people to pay attention to how the OTHER lanes are building.

it won't end because riot buff bruiser item like black cleaver and next patch it's abyssal scepter so amumu can one shoot the full team.
